The song samples “No Te Puedo Olvidar” by Dominican musician Antony “El Mayimbe” Santos.
As for the track’s meaning, the title literally means “Auntie Asked Me.”
“Tití” is common slang term for an aunt used in Puerto Rico and other Caribbean communities. The song is about his aunt asking about his love life, as he reveals he’s been with lots of women and not settling down anytime soon.
“Tití me preguntó si tengo mucha’ novia’, mucha’ novia’ / Hoy tengo una, mañana otra, ey, pero no hay boda.” (“Hey, auntie asked me if I have a lot of girlfriends / Today I have one, tomorrow I’ll have another / But there’s no wedding,” he declares, when translated to English.)
“I wish I could fall in love but I can’t,” he later laments.
Bad Bunny also famously kissed his male and female backup dancers while performing “Tití Me Preguntó” at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, causing some conversation on social media about “queerbaiting” and about his sexuality.
“At the end of the day, I don’t know if in 20 years I will like a man. One never knows in life. But at the moment I am heterosexual and I like women,” he said a few years ago.
