Broadway Faves Will Swenson & Lesli Margherita Are Getting Raves for SoCal Production of 'Sweeney Todd'

Southern California audiences are being treated to performances from Broadway favorites Will Swenson and Lesli Margherita in a new production of Sweeney Todd.

The Broadway veterans are currently starring in the classic Sondheim musical at La Mirada Theatre in southeast Los Angeles, with direction from Seinfeld star Jason Alexander.

The production is earning some rave reviews from local critics, with the Los Angeles Times calling the two stars “singing marvels.”

“Revivals, such as the solid one that opened Saturday at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts under the direction of Jason Alexander, are so important. They remind us not only of the richness of our theatrical past but they also challenge our artists and producers to dream bigger in the future,” the outlet notes.

Will was Tony-nominated for his work in the musical Hair and is also known for starring roles in musicals like A Beautiful Noise, Les Miserables, and Waitress. Lesli is best known for creating the role of Mrs. Wormwood in Matilda on Broadway and she most recently appeared in Gypsy alongside Will‘s wife Audra McDonald.

The limited engagement began this past weekend and will run through February 22… and tickets are going fast!
