Suspect in East Bay hit-and-run that killed 17-year-old girl is arrested
ANTIOCH — A 26-year-old man suspected of being behind the wheel of a vehicle that hit and killed a 17-year-old girl last month has been arrested, police said.
Officers found the girl dead with several injuries near the Antioch Fairgrounds on Jan. 23. Authorities identified her as Jeana Flores, of Antioch. She was on the roadway in the area of L Street between W. 10th and W. 18th streets.
Police initially treated her death as a suspicious one. Autopsy results revealed that Flores had been hit by a vehicle and the police department’s traffic unit took over the investigation.
In a statement, Antioch police said they executed search warrants at residences in Pittsburg and Antioch on Tuesday. Police said that during one of those searches, officers arrested the 26-year-old on suspicion of hit-and-run causing death
He remained in custody Wednesday at the West County Detention Facility in lieu of $150,000 bail.
Police said they also recovered evidence from both locations that they searched.
