Kimbal Musk — Elon’s brother — referenced more than 100 times in latest Epstein files release
Kimbal Musk, brother of Elon Musk and Boulder resident, is referenced at least 140 times in emails exchanged between Jeffrey Epstein and his associates, according to a new batch of documents the Department of Justice released last week as part of the Epstein files investigation.
The emails range from exchanges between Kimbal Musk and disgraced financier Epstein scheduling party times and meeting dates to Kimbal Musk thanking Epstein and his associates for “connecting” him to a woman in 2012.
One of Epstein’s friends, Boris Nikolic, replied that Kimbal Musk “better be nice” to the woman because “Jeffrey goes crazy when someone mistreats his girls/friends.” Kimbal Musk replied that he had received the message “wide and clear” and included a winking emoji.
Kimbal Musk did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Kimbal Musk opened The Kitchen restaurant on Pearl Street in Boulder in 2004 along with chef Hugo Matheson. The restaurant now has locations in Denver, Chicago and Austin.
Many of the emails listed in the files were newsletters or updates about the restaurant or Kimbal Musk’s “learning garden” initiative, which created outdoor classrooms and gardens for hundreds of elementary school-aged children across the nation, including in Denver and Boulder.
The emails exchanged between Kimbal Musk, Epstein, Nikolic and someone Kimbal Musk purports to date span 2012 to 2015, years after the first allegations surfaced about Epstein abusing young women and girls.
In January 2013, Epstein emails Kimbal Musk: “You are invited to the island for a couple of days, come relax.”
Kimbal Musk replied that he was dealing with “the nuclear explosion” that is his life, but he could perhaps come that spring. Additional emails show Kimbal Musk inviting Epstein to various events, planning coffee meetings and trying to schedule visits.
In one email exchange, a redacted recipient received an email from Kimbal Musk asking to dial back their relationship: “We know how much we like each other. But I am just not able to do a real relationship right now. Would you be up for going back a step to just dating? We would see each other on weekends when we can and focus it on fun stuff.”
The redacted recipient sent the message to Epstein who responded “good news” and “now i have you back again full time” and invited the redacted recipient to “the ranch.”
The DOJ document dump also revealed new correspondence between Epstein and Elon Musk, who had previously denied visiting Epstein’s island.
On Friday, the DOJ released more than 3 million pages of new documents and media from its investigative files on Epstein, resuming disclosures under a law intended to reveal what the government knew about the millionaire financier’s sexual abuse of young girls and his interactions with the rich and powerful, according to reporting from the Associated Press.
The files, available on the department’s website, include some of the several million pages of records that officials said were withheld from an initial release of documents in December.
