Kidnapped Florida Sisters Recovered, Suspect Accused of Grooming Them on Roblox & Snapchat Arrested
A man who was accused of grooming two teenaged girls via online conversations was arrested and charged after they went missing.
On Saturday (January 31), the Martin County Sheriff’s Office announced that 12-year-old Lunabella Lozano and her sister, Kaelani Star Lozano, had been reported missing in a news release on Facebook.
In the release, they reported that the sisters were last seen around 5 p.m., noting that there had been “a delay” between that time and when authorities were notified.
The suspect was reported to be an “unknown adult Asian male.” He was later identified as 19-year-old Nebraska native Hser Mu Lah Say in a press conference.

In an update approximately 25 minutes after the sheriff’s office first announced that the girls were missing, they confirmed that the Lozano sisters had been safely recovered and a suspect had been arrested after his car was stopped by Georgia Highway Patrol.
In the press conference, which took place on Monday (February 2), Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek confirmed that Lah Say had been charged with two counts of kidnapping and two counts of interference of child custody.
Budensiek provided a timeline detailing the events leading up to the girls’ disappearance.
He said that they had gone to a “local park” in Indiantown, Fla. around 9 a.m. on Saturday, but they were taken home by family members. The girls were reportedly punished for leaving the home and had their phones confiscated.
The sheriff reported that they’d been in communication with the suspect, who had left Omaha, Neb. at 9 a.m. on Friday (January 30). He believed that the suspect drove through the night and arrived in the area on Saturday morning.
Although the girls’ phones were taken, they remained in communication with the man, who sent them a photo.
It is believed that they met with him around 6:45 p.m. and got into his car.
The girls were reported missing around 8 p.m. in Indiantown, launching a multi-agency search that led to Lah Say and the sisters being found in Georgia.
Their family members drove to pick them up, while Lah Say is being held in Lowndes County, Ga. as extradition paperwork is being prepared.
During the investigation, authorities learned that the sisters had reportedly first interacted with the suspect on Roblox in mid-2025. They then reportedly moved the conversation over to Snapchat.
Looking at their phones while they were missing, the Snapchat app had been deleted. However, officers restored it and allegedly found a “constant thread of communication between this individual and these two young girls.”
Budensiek said that the conversations were “romantic” but that nothing “sexually explicit” had been uncovered yet.
“We were dealing with a type of abduction. I know these girls went willingly, but their age suggested that they had been taken and were probably removed from our area,” he said, adding that the girls had previously received gifts from the suspect, which were thought to be “indicative of what we believe to be a grooming process that the suspect was doing with these young girls.”
Lah Say has no criminal history. However, he reportedly “was repeatedly warning these young girls that he could get in a lot of trouble for what he was fixing to do,” Budensiek said.
The sisters are being interviewed by the police. Lah Say was reported as being “passive” in his interactions with Georgia authorities. However, he hasn’t made any statements to investigators yet.
“I think we prevented something disastrous,” Budensiek said.
Matt Kaufman, Chief Safety Officer at Roblox, shared the following statement with Just Jared: “We are investigating this deeply troubling incident and will fully support law enforcement. Roblox has robust safety policies to protect users that go beyond many other platforms, and advanced safeguards that monitor for harmful content and communications. We have filters designed to block the sharing of personal information, don’t allow user-to-user image or video sharing, and recently rolled out age checks globally to limit kids and teens to chatting with others their age by default. While no system is perfect, our commitment to safety never ends, and we continue to strengthen protections to keep users safe.”
A Snap Company spokesperson also addressed the incident in a statement: “Our hearts go out to the family affected by this tragic incident, and we are grateful to the law enforcement professionals who worked tirelessly in the rescue efforts. The exploitation of children is an abhorrent crime, and we are committed to combating it. We work closely with law enforcement to support their investigations, including during this incident, and to prevent such heinous activity on our platform and help bring criminals to justice. While no single safety feature or policy can eliminate every potential threat online or in the world around us, we continuously adapt our strategies as criminals evolve their tactics. We’ve built safeguards, launched safety tutorials, partnered with experts, and continue to invest in features and tools that support the safety, privacy, and well-being of all Snapchatters.”
