Tommaso Cioni, Annie Guthrie, Enjoyed Hikes, Italy Trips in Family Photos
Annie Guthrie, a poet and author who is the sister of journalist Savannah Guthrie, filled her Facebook page with photos showing her family, including her husband Tommaso Cioni.
Cionio, 50, of Tucson, who also teaches biology and is part of a local band, is under growing scrutiny in the disappearance of the Guthries' mom, Nancy Guthrie. That's because of a claim by journalist turned podcaster Ashleigh Banfield that authorities are taking a closer look at him in the case. Authorities have not confirmed this and have not released many details about the state of the evidence or scene. The FBI is involved in the investigation.
Annie's Facebook page, and Nancy's, show a happy family life; Annie Guthrie's page highlights trips to Italy, hikes, and other excursions with Cioni and their child.
Annie Guthrie & Tommaso Cioni Appear to Enjoy Time Spent in Nature & Trips to Tuscany, Italy
Some photos show Annie and Tommaso in Italy. Some family photos show the family in Tuscany, including in the city of Florence.
In June 2021, she wrote on Facebook, "Happy birthday to my one and only Cioni."
Annie also shared photos showing her mom, including one showing Nancy with her son. "My beloved Momma our bright North Star. Happiest Mother’s Day," she wrote.

"We really didn’t mean to be so puffy and matchy," she wrote with a Facebook photo showing her and Cioni wearing matching winter jackets. "Fireworks," she wrote with another photo showing her and Cioni drinking wine.
For her part, Nancy Guthrie was active on Facebook as recently as January 27, and she posted a Christmas photo that included Cioni.
Tommaso Cioni also has been part of a local band, according to an online bio for it. He has worked for a local school as a biology teacher; a post about his teaching describes his love of nature and knowledge of the Italian language.
Annie Guthrie confirmed he is her husband in a previous interview.
Annie Guthrie Was the Last Known Person to See Nancy Guthrie Before Nancy Disappeared
Annie was identified as the last person to see Nancy before the 84-year-old woman vanished from her Tucson residence. That's according to US Weekly.
However, it's not clear whether Cioni was present that evening. The sheriff has referred to "family" taking Nancy home. She was reported missing around 11 a.m. the next morning (Sunday) after she didn't show up at church.
“We have a start point,” Sheriff Chris Nanos said to US Weekly. “The family took her home from dinner at about 9:30 to 9:45 [p .m.]” on Saturday, January 31. “So we would back that up to even say 9 or 8:30 p.m. to start looking.”
In a news conference, the Pima County Sheriff declined to say whether authorities believe the disappearance was random or targeted, and he declined to comment on any blood or DNA evidence. He later confirmed that authorities are aware of reports of a possible ransom note or ransom notes.
Any such notes have not been authenticated, however.
Annie Guthrie is one of three siblings born to Nancy Guthrie and her late husband Charles Guthrie. Charles Guthrie died of a heart attack when Savannah Guthrie was in her teens, and she has spoken openly about how grief rocked the family. The sisters also have a brother who is a retired pilot.
