Case of Savannah Guthrie’s missing mom takes new direction with alleged ‘ransom note’
One of the tragedies developing in America now is the case of “TODAY” host Savannah Guthrie’s mother, who is missing from her Arizona home that includes evidence of a weekend breakin and bloodstains.
Guthrie has moved out of her ordinary show hosting duties because of the unsolved mystery.
But on Tuesday a new curve appeared, a report from TMZ that it got a note in its email that gives the appearance of a ransom note.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed, “We are aware of reports circulating about possible ransom note(s) regarding the investigation into Nancy Guthrie. We are taking all tips and leads very seriously. Anything that comes in, goes directly to our detectives who are coordinating with the FBI.”
TMZ said it got the note “Tuesday morning” and it “demands a specific substantial amount of Bitcoin … the amount is in the millions, and the note demands the cryptocurrency be sent to a specific Bitcoin address.”
However, there was no confirmation of the legitimacy of the messaging.
Investigative journalist Nick Sortor said, “A potential RANSOM NOTE for NBC’s Savannah Guthrie’s mother Nancy has been received by TMZ It is currently unverified, but the note mentions ‘specific damage’ done to the home as well as what clothes she was wearing, which could be used to verify the note’s legitimacy They’re demanding several million dollars in Bitcoin. TMZ has forwarded the note to the Pima County Sheriff, who has not yet made a statement yet. Again, this note is still UNVERIFIED. Keep praying for this Ms. Guthrie and her family.”

A report at the Wrap said, “TMZ reported receiving an email that was written to look like a ransom letter.”
It was only hours earlier that Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed the 84-year-old woman was “taken from the home against her will.” She last had been seen Saturday night and was reported missing Sunday after not showing up for church.

Reports confirm that Nancy Guthrie arrived at her home Saturday night about 9:45 p.m. and her pacemaker last synced with her Apple devices at home about 2 a.m. Sunday.
She didn’t appear at church at 11 a.m. and family members found her home empty just minutes later.
The sheriff said on Monday he considered that she was taken against her will and the home is being treated as a potential crime scene.
The sheriff declined to respond to questions about whether any “ransom demand” had been met.
