Top 50 Mets Prospects for 2026: 50-46 Features Arms

It’s that time of year, the Mets’ top prospect countdown! I will be going over the Top 50 prospects in the Mets system entering the 2026 season. I came up with the rankings from watching games, talking to scouts, looking at data and input from Mets coaches.

The first group is dominated by arms, a few close to the big leagues and a couple of hard throwers.

No. 50: Yonatan Henriquez, UT

B/T: S/R, Age: 21 (10/12/2004)

Player Profile

As you can see, Henriquez can play a bunch of different positions with six on his resume from last year. All three outfield spots and short, second and third. He combines above-average athleticism with a solid arm that allows him to be passable at multiple defensive spots. He’s also stole a career-high 35 bases (eight caught stealing) last season between the St. Lucie Mets and Brooklyn Cyclones. Defensive versatility and speed on the bases are a good start to a major league bench player.

Throughout his minor league career, Henriquez has demonstrated strong strike-zone awareness, with 143 walks in 251 minor league games. He finally showed a little power in 2025 when he hit 19 doubles, three triples and eight home runs. He finished his season strong with a six-RBI playoff game in the Cyclones championship run. He also had four stolen bases in the playoffs.

Standout Stat

In 203 at-bats in 2024, he didn’t hit a home run, but in 2025, he hit eight home runs in 377 at-bats.

No 49: Luis Alvarez, RHP

Player Profile

The Venezuelan native was finally able to stay healthy and log a career-high 27 innings last season between the rookie-level FCL Mets and the Low-A St. Lucie Mets. Batters had a tough time doing damage with a .163 average and .263 slugging percentage against the right-hander. The big issue he had in 2025 was the strike zone, as evidenced by the 17 walks he issued in only 27 innings. He’s a big kid at 6’5” who has a tough time repeating his delivery, but was able to cut his walks from 21% in 2024 to just under 14% last season.

The 22-year-old is a hard thrower who averages 96-97 mph on his fastball and topped out at 99.9 mph on multiple occasions last year. He mixes in a curve, a sinker, and a slider.

Hitters had a 55.6% whiff rate against his curveball in 2025.

No. 48: Alex Carrillo, RHP

Player Profile

When the Mets signed Carrillo during the 2024 offseason, he was pitching in the Venezuelan Winter League and had come off four straight seasons of pitching in Independent ball. His most recent stateside pitching was with the Washington WildThings of the Frontier League. He started the 2025 season with Double-A Binghamton with a 4.19 ERA and a whopping 30 strikeouts in 19 1/3 innings. He posted 4.03 ERA in 22 1/3 innings with Triple-A Syracuse and struck out 34 in that span. Carrillo’s success and the Mets’ need for a fresh arm brought him up for his major league debut on July 8. He struggled in three major league appearances with seven runs allowed in 4 2/3 innings.

Carrillo hit 99 mph with his four-seamer in his debut, and he averages 97.8 on the pitch. He was also one of seven Mets minor leaguers to hit 100 mph last season, topping out at 100.5 mph. He also mixes in a hard splitter (89-91) and a slider. In his small big league sample, his splitter fared well, but his four-seamer was hit hard. That meshes with his strength in Triple-A, where he threw 66 splitters and a hitter never turned it into an extra base hit and whiffed 43% of the time.

Standout Stat

His 36.2 K% ranked fifth among Mets minor league pitchers with at least 40 innings pitched last season.

No. 47: Ben Simon, RHP

B/T: R/R, Age: 23 (3/22/2002)

Acquired: Drafted in 13th RD (2023)
Position: Right-handed reliever

Player Profile

The lifelong Mets fan has battled through early pro-career injuries to look completely healthy in 2025, throwing a fastball up to 99 mph. The New Jersey native was solid to start the season in High-A Brooklyn (3.86 ERA, 9.6 K/9) but really flourished in Double-A after his promotion. He allowed just two earned runs in 17 innings (1.06 ERA) and struck out 20 in that span. Simon then finished the season with 2 1/3 scoreless innings in the first round of the playoffs, and he picked up a six-out save in the championship series.

As mentioned, Simon reached 99 mph with his fastball last season and consistently hit 96-97 mph in the playoffs. Simon mixes in a slider, a change and a splinker. If Simon’s velocity is consistently where it was to end the 2025 season, we could see him in the Mets bullpen at some point in 2026.

Simon was one of five Mets minor league pitchers (Dylan Ross, Jonah Tong, Jonathan Santucci and Hunter Hodges) with a ground ball rate over 45% and a swinging strike% over 16%.

No. 46 Joander Suarez, RHP

B/T: R/R, Age: 25 (2/27/2000)
Height: 6’3”, Weight: 225 lbs
Acquired: Signed as International Free Agent ($10K bonus)
Position: Starter and reliever

Player Profile

Suarez continues to perform well across a variety of roles at Double-A and Triple-A. In 2025, he made 18 starts, five relief appearances, and picked up two saves, when he tossed at least three innings. He finished the season with two scoreless appearances in the playoffs for Double-A Binghamton. The strike thrower didn’t walk a batter in 11 of his 18 starts last season.

Suarez has a full arsenal of pitches with a four-seamer, sinker, changeup, slider, cutter, and curveball. His fastball is now 93-95 mph, up from the low 90s earlier in his career. Suarez is strong and athletic, with an easily repeatable delivery. Being an elite strike thrower and given his ability to pitch in any role, Suarez could battle for a 40-man spot if/when pitching injuries hit the Mets in 2026.

Standout Stat

Of the 53 pitchers with at least 70 innings in the Eastern League last year, Suarez was the best in the league with his minuscule 4.0% walk rate.
