Lucky teaser: Anya Taylor-Joy is a con artist, and Im already in
TV audiences fell in love with Anya Taylor-Joy thanks to her riveting lead performance as Beth Harmon in The Queen's Gambit. Now, following several major film roles — including a blazing turn as a wasteland warrior in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga — Taylor-Joy returns to the small screen in Apple TV's upcoming limited series Lucky, where she trades playing a chess champion for playing a con artist.
Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Marissa Stapley, Lucky introduces grifter Lucky Armstrong (Taylor-Joy). After a heist worth millions goes awry, she's forced to go on the run. But with the FBI and a ruthless crime boss on her heels, how long is it before Lucky's luck runs out?
Lucky's first-look teaser promises criminal chaos on a major scale, with Lucky getting trapped under dead bodies and setting the occasional fire. As one character asks in the teaser, "How can someone so small cause so much trouble?"
According to Lucky, that trouble is the result of a series of bad decisions that have compounded over time. We're looking forward to learning just what, exactly, those decisions were.
In addition to Taylor-Joy, Lucky also stars Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Drew Starkey, Clifton Collins, Jr., and William Fichtner.
