Australia 13-year-old swims for hours to save family swept out to sea
A 13-year-old boy, Austin Appelbee, saved his mother and two younger siblings after they were swept out to sea off the Australian coast. Austin swam about 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) to shore to raise the alarm. The family, from Perth, were on vacation and were using kayaks and paddleboards when rough conditions dragged them out to sea. Austin swam for four hours, focusing on positive thoughts, and collapsed upon reaching shore.
