THE LOWDOWN
Darren McGregor’s U19s side made a winning start to 2026 a fortnight ago against Kilmarnock.
The youngsters travelled to Rugby Park to face Killie in league action, and battled hard to walk away with all three points.
It was a hard-fought encounter but Jay Gallacher’s late diving header was the difference on the day as he headed in from Arran McSporran’s precise cross in the 88th minute.
This result extended our incredible unbeaten league run to 21 matches; a streak that began over one year ago back in January 2025.
We were due to play Motherwell last week at HTC, but the fixture was postponed due to adverse weather conditions.
The wee Hibees are now third in the CAS Elite U19 League table on 16 points – joint-top with St Mirren and Rangers, who have each played one and two matches more, respectively, than Hibs.
THE HOSTS
Rangers, as noted above, are currently second-place in the league standings – though they have played eight matches compared to Hibs’ six.
The Glasgow side were in action last week while Hibs’ match was postponed, with Hearts holding the Gers to a point at Oriam.
Chris Condy opened the scoring for Rangers in the second half, but the hosts responded through Connor Dow to share the points at Riccarton.
Our last meeting with Rangers occurred in mid-September, as a late winner sealed all three points for the Hibees at HTC!
Josh McDonald swiped home the opener from a low McSporran delivery on 21 minutes before Callum Burnside levelled proceedings.
An 89th-minute winner was found through Zach Bruce, as the midfielder thrashed in a terrific finish from the edge of the box.
