Trump Explains Viral Videos of Him Struggling on Stairs & How It Relates to the 'One Thing' He Respected About Biden
Donald Trump offered a bizarre explanation for the way that he walks down the stairs while getting off Air Force One, and it involved former President Joe Biden.
The 79-year-old president has been caught on camera slowly descending the steps of the presidential plane on more than one occasion.
He addressed the videos, explaining why he insists on moving “nice and slow” during a recent podcast appearance. In the process, he blamed Biden for his behavior and revealed the “one thing” that he respected about his predecessor.

Speaking on The Dan Bongino Show, Trump reflected on how be believes the perception of Americans has shifted on the world stage since he returned to office.
“We were laughed at a year and a half ago. We were laughed at as being stupid people. We were laughed at as… we see a guy falling up the stairs going into an airplane,” he said, seemingly referencing a 2021 incident where Biden tripped three times while walking onto Air Force One.
Trump implied that incident has inspired him to take the steps much more carefully, seemingly since a photo of him tripping would hurt perceptions of Americans.
“I’m not looking to set any records. You don’t wanna go down. Could happen, could happen. But it can’t happen three times in one shot,” he continued.
Addressing Biden‘s handling of the steps, Trump said it was “probably the one thing I respected,” though he added that the 83-year-old former politician “didn’t look elegant at all.”
“He bopped down the stairs. He would be in the middle. I thought it looked so terrible. You know, I mean, this is the president of the United States. He’s bopping down,” Trump explained, adding that he was always ready for Biden to stumble and fall.
He added, “And I didn’t even like the look of it, but I was impressed with his ability to go down the stairs like that. I mean, I wouldn’t want to do it.”
“Those stairs are very slippery. And I always used to say he’s an accident waiting to happen. And to the best of my knowledge it didn’t happen. So I give him credit,” he said.
