Mum, 35, dies after suffering heart attack while working at Next
A Leicester mum died after she suffered a heart attack while working in the nursery of Next’s headquarters.
35-year-old Jodie Green, from Braunstone, was at work when she fell ill on Wednesday, January 7, at the clothing brand’s headquarters.
The ‘devoted’ mum was surrounded by her colleagues in the nursery who administered CPR until the emergency services arrived.
She was admitted to Glenfield Hospital, but after 12 days on life support, the decision was made to turn off her life support due to the severe brain damage she suffered.
Despite her life support being turned off, Jodie continued to fight for a further five days, with her partner James and all of her family by her side.

She died just before 2pm on Saturday, January 24, and has been remembered by her family as a ‘bubbly, loving character’ with a contagious smile.
Her sister, Emma, said: ‘The fantastic effort of the nursery staff gave us all 17 more days with our beloved Jodie, giving her every chance possible and being able to surround her with love.’
She added: ‘Jodie, being Jodie, was a registered organ donor, which was wonderful to learn and did not come as a surprise due to her caring personality.’
Emma said her sister adored working as a nursery nurse with preschool-age children, especially reading stories.
‘We read her many books at her bedside, and she passed away listening to her mum read The Gruffalo to her for the 1000th time,’ Emma said.
‘She loved adventure in the great outdoors, from the local park to the hills and rolling countryside with her dad, family and friends. Jodie lived by the motto live, laugh, love and she did all of these on a daily basis.’
‘Her family stretched beyond blood, with friendships that turned into family, sharing holidays and celebrations together. Family was her life, and her life was family.’
Emma has since helped set up a GoFundMe page for her sister and her family to help with funeral costs.
The fundraiser started with a goal of £2,500 but has now reached more than £19,000.
Emma said she was left speechless looking at how much money had been donated.
‘We view this as a mark of respect and confirmation of just how many lives Jodie has touched and find a warmth beyond words that helps to ease our heartbreak and deepest sorrow. Jodie will be loved forever.’
