Photos: After Losing Both Eyes, 27‑Year‑Old Gazan Faces Lifelong Disabilities, Now Struggles to Survive
Luay Usame Subuh, a 27‑year‑old Palestinian wounded in Israeli attacks, struggles to continue his daily life with permanent disabilities in Gaza City on January 24, 2026. Subuh lost both eyes and all vision when he was struck while trying to retrieve belongings from his destroyed family home during an attack. He later suffered additional injuries to his chest and arm in a second Israeli strike near the Gaza Valley Bridge during the forced displacement.
Now wearing prosthetic lenses to cover the damage to his eyes, Subuh lives with his wife and four children in a makeshift tent, enduring ongoing hardship amid the devastated conditions in the enclave.
