No. 4 Women’s Golf Wins Team and Individual Titles at Puerto Rico Classic

RIO GRANDE, P.R. – The fourth-ranked Arkansas women’s golf team opened the spring with a win at the Purdue Puerto Rico Classic held at Grand Reserve Golf Club (Par 72) in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.

Junior Abbey Schutte (-10) played into a three-way tie for first for her second straight individual win. Schutte closed out the fall season with her first collegiate victory at The Ally in October.

The Hogs (-23) were one of two teams to finish under par in each round and had a comfortable six-stroke lead over second-place finishers No. 10 Vanderbilt and No. 15 Ole Miss.

Arkansas picked up its third team win and third individual title of the 2025-26 season. The Hogs have won the last three Puerto Rico Classics.

Round One

The Razorbacks even through the first seven holes, then caught fire with six birdies over the remaining three holes of the front nine. All four counting scores birdied the par-4 seventh hole. Schutte entered No. 7 at one-under and birdied six of her last 12 holes for a career-low 65.

Zibilski was up and down through her first 13 holes but battled to finish under par with three straight birdies on Nos. 14, 15 and 16.

Sophomore Natalie Blonien, competing as an individual, finished with an even 72. She was two-under headed into No. 14, but bogeyed back-to-back holes.

Highly touted freshman Sara Brentcheneff finished one-over in her collegiate debut. She parred her last nine holes after suffering a double-bogey on the par-4 No. 9.

Freshman Swetha Sathish finished with a four-over 76.

Four Razorbacks finished under par in round one: Schutte (-7), Zibilski (-2), Maria José Marin (-1) and Blonien (E).

Arkansas trailed No. 14 North Carolina by three strokes following the opening round.

Round Two

The second round was moved up to Sunday afternoon, immediately following the first round, with rain in the forecast for Monday and Tuesday.

The Hogs had their best 18 holes of the season with a 13-under 275 with all five counting scores under par. Schutte led the way with a bogey-free 67 and solidified her spot atop the leaderboard after 36 holes. She started the round on No. 2 and birdied three straight and four of her first six holes.

Arkansas’ freshmen Brentcheneff and Sathish bounced back with a pair of 69s, both had just one bogey. Brentcheneff birdied Nos. 5, 6 and 7 and finished even on the back nine.

Zibilski and José Marin each shot a 70, 35 on the front and 35 on the back. Blonien shot a one-over 73.

The Hogs, sitting at 21-under, jumped the Tar Heels and held a one-shot lead headed into Monday morning’s final round.

Round Three

Arkansas’ scoring was inconsistent in the final round and the team finished the day with a one-under 275. Fortunately for the Razorbacks, North Carolina slipped down the leaderboard thanks to a nine-over final round. Ole Miss and Vanderbilt surged up three and five spots, respectively, to second place with strong finishes.

Zibilski and José Marin matched each other once more with a pair of 70s to claim spots in the top 10. José Marin rose 11 spots for a T8 finish.

Blonien stayed consistent with another even round.

Arkansas will return to the course later this month at the Chevron Collegiate hosted by the University of Houston. The tournament will be played at the Golf Club of Houston from Feb. 24-25.
