Passlack On Easter Road Goosebumps & European Aims
Our latest January signing, Felix Passlack sat down with Hibs TV for the first time to discuss his belated move, Sunshine on Leith goosebumps, and European ambitions!
The 27-year-old has vast experience across the continent; with the DFB-Pokal champion playing 97 times in the Bundesliga as well as in England and the Netherlands.
Graduating from Borussia Dortmund’s academy, Passlack spent several years with the German heavyweights before making the permanent move to Bochum – where he performed for two-and-a-half years before joining the Hibees on Deadline Day.
“I was meant to (sign) at the beginning of January. It took a while, but now I'm here,” Passlack tells Hibs TV.
“I'm really happy, I’m excited and I can't wait to start.
“The Club, the city, the fans, the way Hibs play football. I think it fits me, it fits my style of play. And hopefully I can show that.
“I think it's the club, the club, the people here (was my reason for joining). Playing with five in the backline, playing the right wing-back role.
“I have the feeling it's the right decision for me, the right choice for me and my family. And yeah, we're happy.”
Passlack is no stranger to intense and hostile crowds given his past experiences in the Bundesliga and on Champions League nights, and the wing-back is now excited by the prospect of performing in tense clashes at Easter Road and across the country after attending our Edinburgh Derby victory in December.
“It was just a crazy atmosphere. It was the first time in Scotland for me, this special game.
“It was a special win, especially with the song at the end – it gave me goosebumps.”
Capable of playing up and down the right flank, our new recruit – known for his tenacity and attacking threat – discussed how he perceived his style of play.
“I like to go into duels. I'm an aggressive player. I like to go forward with the ball and without the ball. I like to be in the box.
“I like to score some goals, assist some goals. And I think I give 100% in every game for the team. That's me.
“My personal target is to play European football with Hibs,” he added. “I think that should also be a target for the club. I think we are building something up. To be part of that would be nice.
“It's always special European football. I think Hibs had a small feeling at the beginning of the season with the play-offs. The next target should be qualifying for the league stage.”
