Match Reports and Team Details – Week commencing 26th January 2026
Wednesday 28th January
Woking U19 (EDS) 3 – 0 Maidenhead United: National Academy League – South Division
Woking College, Rydens Way
Report from Holly Porter
Woking EDS protected their unbeaten home record with a victory which earned them the league double over Maidenhead United, sending the side back to Berkshire still pointless on the road this season.
“It’s something that’s not necessarily talked about, but it’s a really good record to upkeep”, stated academy manager Matt Winter on Woking’s home form. “The three points today are really pleasing.”
A busy opening period saw play over the top look dangerous for the Cards in an attempt to bring Travin and Trickett into the fixture early, whilst confident claims from Saward in Woking’s net denied the visitors any early hope of a goal.
Several chances fell to the hosts before the opener, most notably with Hayati receiving the ball in the goalmouth in the 12th minute, but his first touch – an attempt to control on his chest – directed the ball too close to Maidenhead’s number one.
Moments later, Patterson forced a diving save with an edge-of-the-area effort, with the shot-stopper then forced into further action, punching away the resulting corner to deny Trickett a back-post header.
A critical moment followed, with an excellent touch from Travin beating the defence in the 21st minute, leading him to subsequently be brought down just inside the box.
“When we get the opportunity from 12 yards, he has been excellent for us in those situations, so long may that continue”, reflected Winter on Trickett standing over the penalty kick. Making no mistake to protect his flawless record from the spot, Trickett sent the ‘keeper the wrong way with a well-hit effort into the bottom right corner.
The hosts thought they had doubled their advantage in the 31st minute, after a well-worked move saw Hudson-Odoi tap home from the goalmouth, but the positive play was dismissed by the offside flag.
A golden opportunity for Maidenhead to level followed, with a 39th-minute free-kick positioned in goalscoring range, but the effort rose high over the bar. Moments later, Trickett hit an effort on the turn, but was denied by the post, with Travin beaten to the rebound by Maidenhead’s defence.
Travin doubled the hosts’ advantage before the break, with a ball from Hudson-Odoi seeing him through on goal. Striking from the centre of the box in the 45th minute, Travin took his goal well to give his side a well-earned two-goal cushion.
Half-time: Woking 2 – 0 Maidenhead United
The restart saw Maidenhead look to get themselves back into the game, most notably with 50th and 55th-minute efforts that narrowly drifted wide for the visitors.
It was then Woking who looked the more likely to add to the scoreline. The 56th minute saw Trickett square the ball to Patterson, who was arriving in the centre of the box, but couldn’t keep his first-time effort down.
Boxall was the next to look up to see only the ‘keeper ahead of him, after Dryer played an excellent ball through the defence. The captain’s effort, however, fell narrowly wide in the 67th minute. Boxall went close again in the 78th minute, this time as he saw his first effort saved, with his follow-up narrowly evading the top left corner.
Boxall did get his goal, with Trickett’s 80th-minute delivery needing only to be touched over the line by the captain, seeing him score in consecutive games for the first time this season.
In almost an upset to the clean sheet, a free-kick for Maidenhead in the first minute of injury time saw an effort struck back across goal for the visitors, searching for, but narrowly missing, the bottom right corner. The full-time whistle shortly followed, cementing the clean sheet and another three points on home turf.

Thursday 29th January
Woking U17 5 – 3 Bedfont Sports: Isthmian League – Central Division
Knaphill FC, Redding Way
Report from Ian Tilley
‘Where there’s Wills there’s a way’
With Bedfont rather narrow there was a lot of joy to be had down the flanks for Woking, but it took a late goal flurry to give the result a gloss pleasing to the Woking eye.
Bedfont gave Woking an early warning that they weren’t going to have things all their own way when a header went narrowly wide on five minutes.
But with Hurp and Richards prompting a lot of Woking’s good play it looked like they would seize the initiative, with both Mansour and Loader hitting the bar.
However, a well taken penalty after a foul challenge gave the visitors the lead on 11 minutes.
There were chances at both ends, although Allan in the Woking goal was called upon to make the better saves.
On 30 minutes Woking were level, Munden’s excellent dribbling brought the foul which gave Woking a penalty. Munden’s kick was saved to the ‘keeper’s left, with the custodian also blocking the taker’s follow up effort, before the ball broke to Loader who fired into the roof of the net from six yards.
Woking pressed for the lead, although Bedfont would also rue missed chances, and Woking were foiled by a combination of their not being clinical enough in their play, and a number of offsides, although some of these looked very tight.
Half-time: Woking 1 – 1 Bedfont Sports
Whilst a lot of Woking’s good play had been on their left, the goal which gave them the lead on 55 minutes was created down their right side. Mansour’s fine passing enabling Hurp (who was still on the right having taken a corner) to cross low and hard where Loader, sliding in ahead of the defender, turned the ball home from six yards.
Woking sought variation to their play through their substitutions, and nearly increased their lead on 67 minutes, Richards’ through ball putting Sam in on goal, who waited calmly for the ‘keeper to commit, but still saw his shot well saved.
Manly and Munden also both came close, but direct play gave Bedfont an equaliser on 74 minutes, a pass straight through the middle of the defence met with a firm finish.
Fortunately, this proved a temporary set-back. A minute later Richards’ cross from the left was deflected home at the near post, an own goal restoring Woking’s lead.
After just two more minutes Woking were finally achieving a score which reflected their periods of domination. Richards played a good ball wide, Hurp provided the cross and Callow’s shot found the corner neatly from six yards.
On 85 minutes it was five, Sam did really well running at the opposition in the build-up and when the ball broke, again in the six-yard box, Richards was on hand to stab home.
In the main, Woking kept the ball well as they played out time, although Bedfont did earn a late consolation after a neat passing move.
One more chance for Woking saw Sam put a difficult chance over, but the victory had been earnt, and the pressure maintained on Walton & Hersham, and Kingstonian, at the top of the league.
Woking: Joshua Allan, Casper Hammond, Luke Manly ©, Sonnie Leedham, Will Hurp; Finn Salman, Alfie Gales (Ben Bailey 79); Jaden Mansour (Kameron Sam 65), Will Richards, Harry Munden (Alfie Moult 76); George Loader (Joe Callow 61). Unused substitute: Harry MacFadyen (GK).
Goals: Loader 30, 55, o.g. 75, Callow 77, Richards 85.
Loan (Dual Registered Players) watch
Saturday 31st January
Tom Dryer, Forward, EDS – Westfield: An eventful afternoon for Tom as Westfield beat Binfield 3 – 1 in the Isthmian League South Central Division (Step 4). Tom scored the first, slotting home after the ball fell back to him after the ‘keeper blocked his first effort. Unfortunately, he received a second yellow card on 84 minutes which saw his afternoon end, perhaps harshly, a little early.
Joden Trickett, Forward, EDS – Abbey Rangers: Now in the starting XI, Joden was on the wrong end of a 0 – 1 defeat to Balham in the Combined Counties Premier Division South (Step 5).
