The Movie Trailers to Watch for During the Super Bowl, From Super Mario Galaxy to Toy Story 5
The excitement surrounding Super Bowl LX doesn't stop during the breaks. In addition to Bad Bunny's highly-anticipated halftime show, movie fans will be treated to some sneak peeks at this year's biggest blockbuster films during the commercials. With the big game set to reach around 120 million viewers, studios will have a prime opportunity to show new, exciting footage to entice football fans to see their films in theaters and on streaming.
According to a new report by Deadline, Disney, Paramount, and Universal are expected to take up most of the prime commercial slots during the ad breaks. In an unusual step, however, Marvel is set to take a year out from its usual promotional efforts during the Super Bowl. This means that there will be no new teasers for Avengers: Doomsdayor Spider-Man: Brand New Day, despite the fact that both are set to release this year.
Every Movie Trailer Expected at Super Bowl LX
Despite no Marvel movie trailers being shown during the Super Bowl, Disney is expected to drop new trailers Pixar’s Hoppers and the Star Wars show-turned-movie, TheMandalorian and Grogu. The films are slated to be hitting theaters on March 6 and May 22, respectively. Pixar’s flagship franchise sequel, Toy Story 5, is also likely to be advertised, according to Deadline. The movie is due to come out this summer, on June 19.
Before the big game officially kicks off, Dimension and Spyglass Media are allegedly releasing the trailer for Scream 7, which is rather late in the day to promote the film, given its February 27. Other gambles from (slightly) smaller studios include the Lionsgate trailer for Michael, the Michael Jackson biopic, which is moonwalking into theaters on April 24.
Illumination has two family-friendly movies locked and loaded for the mega sports event, according to the entertainment outlet — both sequels to mega franchises for the studio. Nintendo’s Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Minions 3 (via Universal) will be dropping trailers, with release dates set for April 1 and July 1, respectively. Finally, Steven Spielberg’s alien epic, Disclosure Day, will be landing during the ad slot, reaching this world on June 12.
