Audero: ‘It could’ve been a lot worse’ after hit by firework
Cremonese goalkeeper Emil Audero released a video message thanking everyone for their ‘affection’ after he was hit by a firework thrown by Inter fans. ‘I feel relieved, as it could’ve been a lot worse.’
The incident happened during last night’s 2-0 home defeat at the Stadio Giovanni Zini, when the object was thrown from the section behind the goal containing the away supporters.
Although the firework exploded right next to the goalkeeper, leaving a visible cut and burn mark on his leg, he was able to continue the match.
Audero wanted to send a video message via the Cremonese official social media channels this afternoon.
Audero recognises he was lucky not to get badly hurt
“Hello everyone, this is simply a message to thank everyone who wrote to me to ask how I was. I’m fine, although I had a strong pain in my ear and a burning sensation in my knee,” explained the shot-stopper.
“I managed to train today and feel relieved, because having seen the footage, it could’ve really been a lot worse. I’m glad that it went well, despite it all.
“Unfortunately, these things still happen, but I hope they will stop in future. I thank all those who wrote to me and send a hug.”

The Inter fan who threw the firework has been identified, because it’s reported he tried to throw another a few minutes later, only for it to explode in his hand and badly damage three fingers.
