King Charles III is reportedly finished with the royal rift between his sons Prince William and Prince Harry — and he’s hoping his daughter-in-law, Kate Middleton, will assist with a reunion. For context, last month it was reported that William ‘strongly opposes’ the monarch’s latest olive branch to Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, after it was revealed the prince would be returning to the UK for the Invictus Games in July. The olive branch in question? Allowing Harry and Meghan to stay in his personal home in Balmoral, Scotland. At the time, a source told ShuterScoop: ‘This is Charles’ most personal residence. Offering Harry and Meghan time at Balmoral is an enormous gesture. It signals trust, forgiveness, and a genuine desire to heal.’ (Picture: Getty Images)
However, the source stated that ‘William is strongly opposed’ to the idea, and ‘believes it’s too much, too soon.’ The insider also said that William ‘fears it could reopen wounds that have barely begun to heal.’ Whereas, for Charles, they believe that the King ‘knows time is precious,’ and the decision is ‘about family, not protocol.’ (Picture: Getty Images)
Fast forward to the present, and a royal insider has told Closer that, despite being King, Charles knows that he can’t stage a brotherly reconciliation alone. Therefore, they revealed that he is looking to the Princess of Wales for support. The source explained: ‘Kate is literally his only hope at this point and he’s let her know in no uncertain terms that he’s counting on her.’ (Picture: Getty Images)
The insider noted that while Charles isn’t ‘framing this as an order,’ it’s ‘pretty clear that’s what this is.’ They added: ‘He wants this visit handled in a way that doesn’t make things any worse.’ (Picture: Getty Images)
The source also claimed the King knows that the public will be watching ‘very closely,’ so the family need to ‘think about the optics.’ They explained that letting the continued family feud get ‘ugly’ is a ‘terrible look for the monarchy,’ and Charles knows Kate ‘understands that better than anyone and knows how to rise above personal feelings when duty calls.’ (Picture: Getty Images)

Finally, they said that King Charles has been reflecting on the fragility of life — especially when considering his own recent health struggles. They continued: ‘He’s dealing with serious health issues while running the monarchy and he genuinely feels like this family infighting is ridiculous in the grand scheme of things.’ The source concluded that, even though Charles knows that Harry and Meghan have made a lot of missteps,’ he is ‘willing to forgive them.’ (Picture: Getty Images)Add as preferred source
