Andrews: A Privilege To Make My Hibs Debut
Kai Andrews says it was a "privilege" to represent Hibernian for the first time following his debut at Easter Road against Rangers.
The 19-year-old loanee was introduced as an early substitute following an untimely injury for Miguel Chaiwa and, after quickly finding his feet, impressed throughout the remainder of the 90.
The midfielder provided great energy to the team through the middle of the park and was a consistent threat throughout alongside fellow debutants Owen Elding and Dane Scarlett.
Speaking to Hibs TV after the match, Andrews revealed his pride at playing in green and white for the first time in front of a vocal home support.
"It was a bit of a shock coming on so early into the game. I've been excited and looking forward to it since I came in to the training ground.
"I think it took me a few minutes to get settled into the game. Obviously the pace of the game, coming off from the bench that early, it's a difficult thing to do. But I thought once I settled in, I thought I coped with it really well and I'm really pleased with the performance.
"I've been here last season when I was at Motherwell and it’s a brilliant crowd. But actually playing in front of them today, wearing the shirt, it was a privilege. I thought the fans were excellent throughout the whole game."
Hibs were held to a 0-0 draw by Danny Röhl's men despite looking promising in attack and creating several key chances, despite heading into the match with several unavailable players and suffering two more injuries during the match.
Andrews picked up his first minutes in Hibs colours and is now looking forward to pulling on the shirt again against Dundee United on Wednesday evening.
"It's definitely good to get the minutes I've got today because it gives me a foundation to build on going into the next game.
"I mean, I know what to expect, even more so now when Dundee United comes around. I'm really excited for that game."
