Timothée Chalamet Could Take His First Step Toward an EGOT With a Potential Grammy Win This Weekend
Timothée Chalamet famously said he wanted to be "one of the greats" during his acceptance speech at last year's SAG Awards, and that may be certified this Sunday, if it wasn't already.
The actor, who turned 30 last month, scored his third Oscar nomination in the Best Actor category for his role as Marty Mauser in the sports-crime epic Marty Supreme (2025). Winning the coveted acting award at some point, even if this isn't his year, seems like somewhat of an inevitability, but the French-American star may be recognized for his work in music first.
If Chalamet achieves this feat, he would be on his way to joining a very exclusive club — those with an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) collection on their shelf. Only 27 people in history have achieved this designation, including Mel Brooks, Jennifer Hudson, Elton John, and Viola Davis, whom Chalamet has named as one of his biggest idols.
Timothée Chalamet May Win a Grammy for His Portrayal of Bob Dylan in ‘A Complete Unknown'
Timothée is nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media for his work on the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown (2024). The actor performed using his own vocals to replicate the singular voice of the folk music icon, and narrowly missed winning the Academy Award for Best Actor for his work.
Previous winners of the accolade include Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper for A Star is Born (2018) and Joaquin Phoenix for the Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line (2005). The latter film shared the same director as A Complete Unknown, James Mangold — so Chalamet is a shoo-in, right? Well, he's got some pretty stiff competition this year.
Also up for the award are the soundtracks for the 2025 films KPop Demon Hunters and Sinners, which are heavy hitters at this year's Academy Awards, as well as with audiences. Chalamet's fate will be unveiled at the Grammy Premiere Ceremony, which airs live Sunday, February 1, at 12:30 PM PT. The ceremony will be available across CBS and Paramount+, as well as on the Recording Academy’s YouTube channel, and at Grammy.com.
