Spruce Kings Win Fifth Straight Game!
Ryder Green made 28 saves for his second shutout of the season as the Spruce Kings won their fifth straight game with a 5-0 victory over the Surrey Eagles on Friday night at Kopar Memorial Arena.
It took the home side a while to get find the back of the net in the opening period, as finally at 15:53 Marcus Lougheed scored his 14th of the season on the Spruce Kings third power play of the frame, as Ben Vreugdenhil and Carter Hesselgrave picked up the assists.
Tai Ushio grabbed his 20th of the season less than two minutes later, taking a loose puck off the wall and driving it to the goal. He was stopped by Finn Marshall, but then picked up the rebound and put it top shelf to make it 2-0 and enter the BCHL Instagram feed.
The Spruce Kings would get a pair of markers in the second period as well, as first Mason Loewen went five-hole on Marshall to make it 3-0 from Hesselgrave, then Isaac Holt went post and in from Ushio and Lougheed to make it 4-0.
Green wasn’t overly tested but did have to make a couple of key saves in tight as the Eagles pressed in the third period.
Lucas Busch scored in his Spruce Kings debut against his former team with just 27 seconds remaining as the Spruce Kings were on a 5 on 3 advantage.
