Brits in College Women | Mid-season check in

Don’t look now but March isn’t that far away. So, what better time to take a look at how some British players have been faring in the women’s college basketball scene.

NCAA Division 1

Isi Ozzy-Momodu is coming off a big performance against Iowa where she scored a season high 18 points, along with grabbing 12 rebounds, in Maryland’s OT loss to the Hawkeyes.

Overall, the redshirt junior has had 10 games so far this season where she has reached double figures in scoring and she has also put up four double doubles.

Although they have lost three of their last four games, Maryland currently boast a 17-4 record with Ozzy-Momodu averaging 8.6 points 6.8 boards per contest for the Terrapins up to this point in their campaign, as per umterps.com.

Fatmata Janneh has been a threat to post a double-double every time she has stepped out in the court in what is her first year with Texas A&M.

The transfer from Saint Peter’s has six double doubles to her name so far this season and this includes a big win against Prairie View in December where Janneh scored 17 points and came down with a season high 19 boards.

Janneh also had an 18 point and 17 rebound outing in an OT loss against Georgia in early January. The 6’2” junior then backed up her game against the Bulldogs by scoring a season high 22 points, while also collecting nine boards, in the Aggies’ victory over Florida on January 8.

Overall, Texas A&M have racked up an 8-7 record so far this campaign and Janneh has been averaging a double-double with numbers of 11.7 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, as per 12thman.com.

Leia Edwards is having a pretty good freshman season with Lehigh, who own a 9-8 record on the year so far.

There have been nine contests in this campaign to date where Edwards has scored in double figures and she has reached her season high of 22 points on two separate occasions.

Edwards posted 22 points in a win over Drexel in November and she dropped 22 points again, and also picked up 10 boards, in a blowout victory against Bucknell in early January.

The guard/forward also amassed a 17 point and 12 rebound double-double when Lehigh were defeated by Mount St. Mary’s in early December.

As a whole, Edwards is putting up numbers of 13.4 points and 7.7 boards per game so far this year, as per lehighsports.com. 

Issy Bunyan has been a positive contributor for the Montana State University Bobcats this season and she’s also had performances where she has particularly stood out.

The junior from Wales recorded a season high 22 points in a road loss to North Dakota State in early December and she also amassed 21 points in a win over Northern Colorado on January 1.

Overall, there have been a total of six games in which Bunyan has produced scoring outputs in double digits. Two of these games have come in the last three contests with Bunyan scoring 11 points in a victory over Montana, while also dropping 11 points once again in the Bobcats’ most recent defeat at the hands of Idaho State.

As a whole, the 6’0” guard is averaging 8.1 points per contest to date for a Montana State side that is currently 13-5.

Susannah Rafiu sure got off to an impactful start for Columbia in the 2025-26 college basketball campaign.

The senior from Ipswich posted double digit scoring displays in the first six games of the season, including in a close loss to Kansas State in late November where she tallied a season high 18 points.

Rafiu also produced a 14 point and 10 rebound double-double when Columbia went down to Richmond in the third game of the year.

So far this campaign, the forward has averaged 10.2 points and 5.3 boards per contest for a Columbia side that sits with a record of 12-5.

Rafiu’s Columbia teammate Fliss Henderson has also been productive in her own right up to this point in the year.

Henderson, who migrated to Australia when she was a young child after being born in the UK, has scored at least 10 points or more in five games this season including in Columbia’s most recent victory over Brown where she had a 14 point and 13 rebound outing.

The junior also compiled 11 points and 16 boards in a defeat at the hands of Cornell in early January, and she recorded her season high in scoring of 15 points during a demolition of Wagner in December.

Overall, the 5’11” guard from North Curl Curl in Sydney’s Northern Beaches has averaged 7.9 points to go with 7.0 rebounds per contest so far this campaign, as per gocolumbialions.com.

So far this year, McKenzie Mathurin has had some solid outings in what is her freshman year at Michigan.

The 5’10” guard recorded a season high 15 points on 5/8 shooting in a huge win over Penn State away from home on January 8.

Mathurin also scored 14 points in a blowout victory over Binghamton in early November, and she also tallied 10 points when the Wolverines triumphed on the road against Detroit Mercy later that month.

Michigan currently holds a record of 16-3 with Mathurin averaging 5.5 points per game so far this year, as per mgoblue.com.

After not playing in her sophomore campaign last season because of an injury, Carys Roy was able to come out and dish up a season high 19 points in the second game of the year when Saint Peter’s lost to Fordham on the road.

In the past few games, the junior from Wales also had 16 points in the Peacocks’ most recent victory over Iona, and she also recorded a 15 point game on 6/7 shooting from the field in a loss to Mount St. Mary’s on January 10.

Roy also had another good shooting day earlier on in January, after going 6/8 from the floor and compiling 14 points when Saint Peter’s was defeated by Fairfield.

So far this year, Saint Peter’s have only managed to secure a win-loss record of 4-15 with Roy averaging 6.6 points and 4.6 rebounds each game, as per saintpeterspeacocks.com.

NCAA Division 2

Ana-Isabel Andersson has had some good outings to date playing for West Liberty University this season.

Earlier on in the 2025-26 campaign, Andersson went on a streak of six consecutive games of scoring in double digits.

In the second game of this streak, Andersson racked up a season high 26 points in a road loss to Pitt-Johnstown in November and she also picked up 16 points and claimed 11 boards in a defeat to Seton Hill away from home.

Up to this point in the season, the sophomore guard has averaged 10.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per contest for a West Liberty University team that has a record of 5-12.

Tinu Fakunle is a British player who is having a solid year for Southwest Baptist University, who have only managed to win five games to date in this campaign.

The junior notched up a season high 18 points in the fourth game of the season when the Bearcats suffered defeat at the hands of Northeastern State University.

There have also been four other times this year where Fakunle was able to score at least 10 points.

All around, Fakunle has so far this season been averaging numbers of 8.5 points while also grabbing 4.5 boards per game, as per sbubearcats.com.

Kaylie Edge has produced some notable performances so far in her senior season at California State University Chico.

In November, Edge came up with 19 points and six rebounds when the Wildcats picked up a road victory over Menlo. She also amassed a season high 23 points, and also had seven boards, when her side emerged victorious against Jessup.

The Wildcats also sit with a record of 15-2 and Edge has contributed to the tune of 7.5 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest up to this point in their year, as per chicowildcats.com.

JUCO

The 2025-26 college basketball campaign so far has seen Danielle McNamara be a steady contributor in her role with Lake Region State College, whose record stands at 12-8.

McNamara’s season high to date came in a blowout win over St. Cloud Technical & Community College when she tallied up 14 points.

So far on the year, the redshirt freshman from Falkirk, Scotland has seen averages of 8.4 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, as per lrscroyals.com.

At Eastern Wyoming College, you will find Rhia Saggar who has been enjoying a solid college basketball season.

Saggar has reached her season high of 18 points twice during this campaign in emphatic victories over North Platte Community College and Trinidad State College that occurred in November and January respectively.

Overall, the sophomore guard is averaging 7.8 points and 3.9 boards per contest for Eastern Wyoming College who have compiled a record of 10-9 on the year to date.

We have seen Grace Strickland put up some nice games this season despite Eastern Florida State College only amassing a record of 7-12 up to this point in their campaign.

Strickland has nabbed 10 points on three separate occasions, including in a loss to Miami Dade College in early January where she also dished out 12 assists.

The sophomore guard also recorded her season high of 15 points as a scorer when the Titans beat Cleveland Community College in late December.

So far this season, Strickland has produced averages of 7.1 points and 3.9 assists each game, as per efsctitans.com.
