Hundreds of protesters across Marin demonstrated Friday against the actions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Student protesters walked out of classes at San Rafael High School and marched to City Hall, where they held a rally. Police estimated that more than 400 people gathered. The walkout was one of several involving Marin students this week.
Friday was dubbed a “National Day of Action” across the country. MarinHealth Medical Center nurses said they planned to hold a candlelight vigil at the hospital to honor slain Minneapolis nurse Alex Pretti and others killed by ICE, according to a union statement.
Several other anti-ICE protest rallies were organized in Marin County this month, including a Jan. 11 march at the Marin County Civic Center that drew an estimated 1,200 people. The march was held after an ICE officer fatally shot Minneapolis resident Renee Good.
