There Might Be More 'Heated Rivalry' Coming Before Season 2
Still having flashbacks to the cottage? Eagerly awaiting Heated Rivalry season two? Don’t worry, there might be a bonus episode coming before you know it.
According to Justin Stockman, vice president of content development and programming at Bell Media—the parent company of Heated Rivalry’s Canadian streamer, Crave—said his team is exploring the idea of releasing bonus content while the show’s creator, Jacob Tierney, works on developing season two.
“We’re going to see what’s feasible,” Stockman told The Toronto Star. “If Jacob Tierney can find a way to make the source material work in a way that gets us something sooner or something special, I’m sure he will.”
“If Jacob Tierney can find a way to make the source material work in a way that gets us something sooner or something special, I’m sure he will,” he explained, adding, “I would love to have this back for the holidays next year, but that likely is not going to happen. We can’t rush the process. We won’t be able to repeat the magic if we push him.”
Heated Rivalry’s first season was based on the first two books in Rachel Reid’s Game Changers series, which focus on the show’s leads, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, and secondary characters, Scott Hunter and Kip Grady.
Following the success of the show, it was renewed for a second season in December.
When Is Heated Rivalry Season 2 Releasing?
Heated Rivalry’s season two release date has not been confirmed yet. However, the show’s creator hinted that season two will likely air in early 2027.
“It can’t be same time next year because this time last year I’d written five of these [scripts], and this time this year I’ve written zero of them,” Tierney told Variety in December. “So it’s going to be a little bit later, but it’s still going to be soon.”
In December, Hudson Williams, who plays Shane, told Variety that season two may begin filming in “July or August.” Connor Storrie, who plays Ilya, confirmed this in a January interview on Today. “I think Jacob’s still writing it. I think we’re going to be filming, I don’t know when, exactly,” said Storrie on Today, when co-host Craig Melvin asked if production could start by summer. “Yeah, I think about then.”
Tierney told Deadline in December that it will be based on The Long Game, the only other book in Reid’s series that focuses on Ilya and Shane. Reid is set to release Unrivaled on Sept. 29, which continues their story.
