West Brom have agreed a loan deal with Crystal Palace for Danny Imray and are planning to hand him a medical, according to Baggies insider Eya We Gew.
The 22-year-old Eagles academy star was in high demand last summer and in the end joined League One outfit Blackpool on a season-long loan.
Imray impressed for the Seasiders as he admitted he was enjoying his time with Blackpool, but Crystal Palace decided to cut short his loan spell in January.
The Palace star has been attracting interest from Championship with West Brom, who recently appointed Eric Ramsay as their new manager; an appointment deemed risky.
West Brom are now dealing with the threat of being dragged into a relegation scrap and the Baggies hierarchy want to back the former MLS tactician by bringing in players that suit his style of play.
They are looking for a right-sided wider player, as Ramsay has only Alfie Gilchrist in that position and the club believe that Crystal Palace star Imray fits the profile.
West Brom entered negotiations with Crystal Palace to take Imray on a loan and the two clubs have now come to an agreement.
West Brom have now moved on to planning a medical for the Eagles star as they look to get the deal over the line soon.
If everything goes well, then a move to West Brom will be Imray’s fourth loan spell and first in the Championship.
West Brom have already brought in goalkeeper Max O’Leary from Bristol City to bulk up their goalkeeping department and Imray’s arrival will further solidify their defensive setup.
During an earlier loan spell, Imray won praise for being ‘explosive’ and hard to keep quiet.
West Brom will hope that those qualities are on clear display at the Hawthorns for the remainder of the season.
Update: Imray is now at West Brom’s training base and could well be available for the weekend.
