Charlton Athletic are not set to let Lloyd Jones leaving the Valley before the transfer window closes, according to journalist Richard Cawley.
The Addicks signed Jones in June 2023 as a free agent on a two-year deal, after leaving Cambridge United .
The centre-back signed a two-and-a-half-year contract extension last January, keeping him at the Valley until summer 2027.
Jones, who came through Liverpool’s academy, was hailed as a huge part of Charlton Athletic’s promotion winning squad last season as they came up to the second-tier.
The 30-year old is the vice-captain of the Addicks and was awarded Charlton Athletic’s player of the year last year.
He has started all 28 league games for Nathan Jones’ side in the Championship this campaign and is a crucial part of the Welshman’s back three formation.
Losing him in the middle of the season would have been a big blow for the Addicks, but there is ‘absolutely nothing’, in the rumours about Jones leaving before the January transfer window deadline.
The Addicks are currently 19th in the Championship table after 28 games and just three points above Blackburn Rovers in the last relegation spot.
The relegation battle in the Championship will be very tightly contested with nine teams in the bottom half of the table within just ten points of each other.
Charlton Athletic as a result, are expected to do ‘quite a lot of business’ in the final days, to strengthen their squad before the second half of the season.
They were interested in FC Zurich defender Junior Ligue but are missing out on him after a ‘spectacular turnaround’, which has seen him join Italian side Venezia.
All eyes are on what business the Addicks do do now before the transfer window closes as they aim to give Jones all the tools he needs to secure survival.
