The move stands out because it came more than a week before the Netflix Original series' fourth season was set to premiere on February 5, 2026. That is unusually early compared to the prior renewal, which Variety reported on January 21, 2025, more than three months after Season 3's October 17, 2024, premiere.

Based on Michael Connelly's novel series of the same name, The Lincoln Lawyer focuses on a criminal defense attorney who runs his practice out of the back of his chauffeured Lincoln Navigator in Los Angeles. The series centers on Mickey Haller, a recovering addict who is willing to take on high-pressure cases. The show was created by the television icon, David E. Kelley, who previously was behind huge hits like Doogie Howser, M.D., Picket Fences, The Practice, Boston Legal, Ally McBeal, and Big Little Lies.
