The 'Bridgerton' season 4 cast and who they play

This season will star Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha as Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Baek.
  • The fourth season of "Bridgerton" is now officially on Netflix.
  • Season four adapts Benedict and Sophie's story from the book "An Offer from a Gentleman."
  • Here's where you might recognize the main cast members from outside the world of the Ton.

Dearest gentle readers: "Bridgerton" is back. And with a new season of Netflix's romance series comes a new love story and a new crop of characters to get to know over the course of the story.

Season four is based on the third novel in Julia Quinn's "Bridgerton" series, "An Offer from a Gentleman," which tells the story of Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), the second-eldest Bridgerton and the family's resident free spirit who's determined not to live a conventional life like his siblings — that is, until he meets a mysterious lady in a silver dress, Sophie (Yerin Ha), who makes him rethink his worldview.

Sophie's not the only new face we'll get to know this season. There's also the Penwood family, consisting of the widow of the Earl of Penwood, Lady Araminta Gun (Katie Leung), her two daughters, Posy (Isabelle Wei) and Rosamund (Michelle Mao).

Here's where you may recognize the cast of "Bridgerton" season four from.

Luke Thompson is taking center stage as this season's lead, Benedict Bridgerton.

After three seasons of waiting, "An Offer from a Gentleman" fans will finally get their Benedict Bridgerton season. Luke Thompson steps into the spotlight this season, once more playing the second Bridgerton son, Benedict.

"Bridgerton" is Thompson's biggest project to date, but you might recognize him from a background role in "Dunkirk," the 2020 film "Misbehaviour," or the Netflix series "Transatlantic."

He stars opposite Yerin Ha, who plays the mysterious Sophie Baek.

Sophie is Benedict's love interest this season — he meets her first in disguise at a masquerade ball, and then again when she's back in her normal life as a servant for one of the families of Mayfair.

Ha's first main role was in the Paramount+ series "Halo," based on the video game franchise of the same name. She also had a small role in "Dune: Prophecy."

Ha, who is Australian, has also appeared in Australian series like "Troppo," "Bad Behaviour," and "The Survivors."

Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan are back as Colin and Penelope Bridgerton.

After leading season three, to the delight of Polin fans everywhere, Newton and Coughlan are back in supporting roles as Colin and Penelope Bridgerton. And now that everyone knows that Penelope is actually Lady Whistledown, her life has become more complicated.

Newton is best known for "Bridgerton," but Disney fans may recognize him from "The Lodge."

Coughlan was already beloved by fans of the Irish series "Derry Girls" before taking on the role of Penelope. She also stars in the British series "Big Mood" and had a small role in "Barbie."

So is the family's other newlywed couple, Francesca and John Kilmartin, played by Hannah Dodd and Victor Alli.

After getting married and heading off to Scotland in season three, Francesca and John are back in London for the social season — because, according to Francesca, it was getting a little crowded with the two of them, her sister Eloise, and John's cousin Michaela.

Dodd joined the cast of "Bridgerton" in season three, replacing the original actor who played Francesca, Ruby Stokes. Before the show, Dodd had roles in "Enola Holmes 2," "Eternals," "Anatomy of a Scandal," and "Flowers in the Attic: The Origin."

Alli also joined in season three. Prior to the series, he had small roles in "Death on the Nile," "Belfast," and "Andor."

Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley will reprise their roles as Anthony and Kate Bridgerton, but they don't appear in part one.
Simone Ashley as Kate Bridgerton (née Sharma) and Jonathan Bailey as Anthony Bridgerton on season three, episode five of "Bridgerton."

It's explained during the first episode of season four that Anthony and Kate are still in India after the birth of their first child. Per Netflix, Bailey and Ashley will appear at some point in season four.

Four years after their season, Bailey has become a true A-lister. In addition to being the reigning People's Sexiest Man Alive, Bailey was the No. 1 highest-grossing male actor at the box office in 2025, thanks to "Jurassic World Rebirth" and "Wicked: For Good," per Variety.

Ashley was already known to fans of "Sex Education" before "Bridgerton." Since then, she starred in the Prime Video film "Picture This" and is set to appear in "The Devil Wears Prada 2" this summer.

John's cousin Michaela, played by Masali Baduza, is also back this season.
Masali Baduza as Michaela Stirling in "Bridgerton" season four.

Baduza was introduced at the end of season three as John's cousin, Michaela, replacing the (male) character of Michael Stirling from Francesca's book, "When He Was Wicked." She only pops in at the very end of part one of season four, so we can be sure to expect more in part two.

Baduza's biggest role pre-"Bridgerton" was in the BBC series "Noughts + Crosses" as the main character, Sephy.

Eloise might have left London for Scotland at the end of season three, but Claudia Jessie is back for season four.

Eloise decided to get a change of scenery from the Ton at the end of season three to join her sister and new brother-in-law in Scotland, but when we pick up season four, Eloise is actually quite happy to be back among the rest of her family in London.

Jessie has appeared in classic British series such as "Doctors," "Call the Midwife," and "Doctor Who." She also starred in an ITV adaptation of "Vanity Fair."

In 2025, she starred in the Netflix miniseries "Toxic Town."

Florence Hunt plays Hyacinth, one of the youngest Bridgertons.

Hyacinth is the second-youngest Bridgerton sibling, and this season, she's desperate to prove that she's all grown up.

This is Hunt's first major role, but in 2025, she played the younger version of Teresa Palmer's character in "Mix Tape."

Lord Marcus Anderson and Lady Violet Bridgerton, as played by Daniel Francis and Ruth Gemmell, spend time together in season four.

Gemmell has been part of "Bridgerton" since season one and also appeared on the spin-off, "Queen Charlotte." We've only known Violet as a single mom, but this season, she has her eye on Lord Marcus Anderson (Francis), who just happens to be Lady Danbury's younger brother. He joined the cast in season three.

Gemmell is best known for her performance opposite Colin Firth in the 1997 rom-com "Fever Pitch." She's also known to British audiences for roles in "EastEnders," "Tracy Beaker," and "Home Fires."

Francis starred in "Small Axe," "Once Upon a Time," and "The Wheel of Time."

The new family to the Ton this season is led by Lady Araminta Gun, played by Katie Leung.

The Evil Stepmother in this Cinderella story and the season's villain is Lady Araminta, played by Katie Leung.

Leung is most famous for playing Cho Chang in the "Harry Potter" films. She also had a voice role in "Arcane," and appeared in "The Wheel of Time," "The Peripheral," and "T2 Trainspotting."

Araminta's two daughters, Posy and Rosamund, are played by Isabella Wei and Michelle Mao.
Isabella Wei, Katie Leung, and Michelle Mao in "Bridgerton."

Posy (Wei) is the nicer of the two sisters and has a less adversarial relationship with Sophie than her sister Rosamund and her mother. Wei has appeared in the Netflix series "1899" and "Black Doves."

Rosamund (Mao) takes after her mother in more ways than one, including her disdain for Sophie. Mao most recently appeared in the film "A Big Bold Beautiful Journey." She's also been in "Goosebumps," "Metal Lords," and "FBI: Most Wanted."

Two of the season's new characters work for Araminta at Penwood House: Alfie (David Moorst) and Irma (Fiona Marr).

Sophie is close with the other servants at Penwood House, including Alfie (Moorst) and Irma (Marr). Both are instrumental in getting her to the masquerade ball in the season premiere.

This is Moorst's first major role, though he has had small roles in "Killing Eve" and "Grantchester."

Marr will be familiar to fans of "My Fault: London." She also appeared in an episode of "Ted Lasso."

The staff at Bridgerton House will also be important this season.

The staff at Bridgerton House includes housekeeper Mrs. Wilson (Geraldine Alexander); a footman, John (Oli Higginson); a maid, Celia (Sophie Lamont); and a new maid, Hazel (Gracie McGonigal).

Mrs. Wilson, John, and Celia have all been background players in the first three seasons of "Bridgerton" (and "Queen Charlotte), but this season, since Sophie is also a maid, the staff will play a larger role.

Alexander is a staple on British TV: She's appeared in "EastEnders," "Doctors," "Coronation Street," and more.

Higginson is predominantly a theater actor, as is McGonigal. Lamont had an uncredited role in "The Batman."

Polly Walker is back as Lady Featherington.

Lady Portia Featherington is the leader of the Featherington family. Now that her daughters have all married and had children, Portia should be able to relax this season, but a conflict with her housekeeper, Mrs. Varley, may prevent that.

Fans may recognize Walker from her appearances in Gwyneth Paltrow's "Emma," "Clash of the Titans," or "John Carter." She also appeared in "Dune: Prophecy" and was nominated for a Golden Globe for her work in "Rome."

The Featherington housekeeper Varley, played by Lorraine Ashbourne, has a larger role this season.

Like Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Varley has been around in the background since the beginning of "Bridgerton," usually to help her employer, Portia, scheme. But this season, Varley is in high demand as a housekeeper.

Ashbourne has been in British series such as "Grantchester," "Midsomer Murders," and "The Crown."

Fun fact: Ashbourne has been married to Andy Serkis since 2002.

Golda Rosheuvel is once again playing Queen Charlotte.
Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte in "Bridgerton" season four.

The first season of "Bridgerton" introduced audiences to Queen Charlotte, a real-life monarch who reigned in England in the late 18th and early 19th century, as played by Rosheuvel. She also plays her in the spin-off, "Queen Charlotte."

Rosheuvel has a long TV résumé, appearing in British shows including "Luther," "Coronation Street," and "EastEnders."

On the big screen, Rosheuvel played Shadout Mapes in "Dune."

Her closest confidant, Lady Agatha Danbury (Adjoa Andoh), is in season four, too.

Lady Danbury has been a fan-favorite since season one, largely due to the performance by Andoh. She's been one of Queen Charlotte's closest friends since her coronation, as seen in "Queen Charlotte."

This season, Lady Danbury seems to have tired of society and has even ceded the first ball of the season to Violet Bridgerton.

Like Rosheuvel, Andoh has been acting in British TV for decades. Since "Bridgerton," she has appeared in "The Witcher" and "The Red King."

As is her secretary and other close companion, Brimsley, played by Hugh Sachs.

Brimsley has also been on the show since season one and made appearances on "Queen Charlotte." Viewers have seen that he cares deeply about the Queen, even if she doesn't always treat him well.

Sachs is best known for his role in the British sitcom "Benidorm." He was also in an episode of "Andor."

Martins Imhangbe and Emma Naomi return as Will and Alice Mondrich.
Martins Imhangbe and Emma Naomi as Will and Alice Mondrich in "Bridgerton" season four.

Will and Alice were introduced in season one as friends of Simon's (Regé-Jean Page). Originally, the Mondriches were working-class, but they have since moved up in the world. By season four, Lady Danbury has high hopes for Alice and a potential friendship with the Queen.

"Bridgerton" is the biggest role for both Imhangbe and Naomi. Before the show, Imhangbe was mainly a stage actor, and Naomi had appeared in British TV shows. This year, she appeared in "What It Feels Like for a Girl."

The final additions to season four are the Crabtrees, played by Billy Boyle and Susan Brown.
Yerin Ha and Susan Brown as Sophie and Mrs. Crabtree in "Bridgerton."

Mr. and Mrs. Crabtree are the caretakers of Benedict's country home, charmingly named My Cottage (any "Heated Rivalry" fans know that a cottage in a romance story means business).

Brown is best known for playing Septa Mordane in the first season of "Game of Thrones," though she is a well-known theater actor.

Boyle has been in projects since the '70s, including films like "Barry Lyndon" and "A United Kingdom." He's also been in many theater productions and British TV series.
