Leeds United At Risk Of Missing Out On Key Target

Leeds United ‘retain’ an interest in Jorgen Strand Larsen, but are now at major risk of missing out on him after Crystal Palace ‘entered the race’, with talks being held via intermediaries.
Strand Larsen could well be sold by Wolves this month if their asking price is met, which marks a turnaround from their position last summer.
Newcastle United pursued Strand Larsen last summer and saw Wolves knock back bids for the Norwegian striker.
The Magpies ultimately moved on to sign Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa to boost their attacking options following the exit of Alexander Isak.
Amid Wolves’ troubles, there was a growing sense that the Old Gold would be ready to cash in on Strand Larsen this month and he could move.
Leeds have seen an offer of over £30m for Strand Larsen rejected this month however and are now facing the real risk of missing out on him.
Crystal Palace have moved decisively into the race, with Oliver Glasner’s side having to deal with interest in Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Journalist Ben Jacobs wrote on X: “Crystal Palace have entered the race to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen. No formal bid yet to Wolves but negotiations taking place through intermediaries.
“Leeds retain an interest after seeing an offer in excess of £30m rejected.”
A move to Crystal Palace, an established Premier League side, may well be tempting for Strand Larsen, with Wolves on their way down to the Championship.
Losing out on the Norwegian would be a blow for Leeds however.
Leeds brought in Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha in the summer and both strikers arrived with an injury prone record.
They have been able to steer clear of long spells on the sidelines so far, but as the season progresses, their bodies will be tested further.
Daniel Farke will need to weigh up whether he can afford not to sign another striker before the transfer window closes, which could be a gamble.
And if Strand Larsen soon becomes off the table, Leeds will have to focus their attentions elsewhere.
