Explosion damages parked car in Nicosia

An explosion occurred in a parked car in the Nicosia district in the early hours of on Thursday, causing damage to the vehicle as well as to the windows of a neighboring residence.

The incident took place at around 1.10am, outside the home of the car’s 50-year-old owner.

Police were called to the scene, where a pyrotechnician determined that a factory-made firecracker had been placed inside the vehicle and detonated.

Investigations into the case are ongoing.
