Alongside Cunha: Dorgu's hamstring injury is a blessing in disguise for £55m Man Utd star
Manchester United made it back-to-back Premier League wins after a 3-2 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last weekend.
Matheus Cunha bagged a late winner in the 87th minute. Patrick Dorgu and Bryan Mbeumo were also among the goals in a terrific display.
Like Mbeumo, Dorgu scored for the second game on the bounce with a stellar strike, but he won’t be available for the next few months.
The Dane sustained a hamstring injury during the back end of Sunday’s contest, and reports indicate he could be sidelined for 10 weeks.
The news is a huge setback for the club, but they have sufficient cover to fill the void left by him.
Cunha has been in fine form lately. He registered a crucial assist against Manchester City before scoring a superb winner at the Emirates.
The Brazilian is a natural replacement for Dorgu on the left wing going forward, but another United star could be in contention for the role too.
Mason Mount has largely been out of favour since Michael Carrick took charge as interim manager.
The £55 million signing came on as a stoppage time substitute against Man City and was left on the bench during the recent north London trip.
He may not necessarily start over Cunha on the left wing on current form, but the Englishman will no doubt get more minutes with Dorgu injured.
Mount played as a left-sided number 10 or on the left wing during his time at Chelsea, and he could operate in a similar role for the Red Devils too.
The Englishman is better defensively than Cunha and could be utilised in the back end of games when the club need more control of possession while preserving a lead.
Mount faces a crucial period ahead with the Red Devils. He has had limited impact in recent years due to injuries, and needs to capitalise on any opportunities to impress.
