Why Kate Middleton Is Reportedly ‘Seething’ Over Royal Family Power Play Unfolding Behind Palace Doors
Kate Middleton is reportedly trying to keep the palace together after years of scandals, but it sounds like one troublesome family member is keeping the chaos going.
The tug-of-war going on behind palace walls involves the disgraced Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor using his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, “to stay informed and involved” in royal family business, per Closer. “The perception is that he uses them as his eyes and ears – and, whether intentional spies or not, this is creating mistrust,” a royal insider told the publication.
This detail reportedly has the Princess of Wales “seething” over the “continued prominence of Andrew and his daughters.” It has “pushed tensions with Prince William and Kate to a breaking point” because they want to maintain a friendly relationship with Beatrice and Eugenie. Unfortunately, the Andrew dynamic has them worried that he’s “whispering in the background of royal decision-making.”
Kate has worked hard “to rebuild trust in the monarchy after years of scandal” with the public, but Andrew continues to subtly make his way back into the royal fold. Still, the process of moving the ex-Prince Andrew out of Royal Lodge has already begun, per The Sun, which should bring the Princess of Wales some relief.
The U.K. outlet noted that moving trucks were seen at his former home, Royal Lodge, on January 14. There are also renovations underway at his new residence, Marsh Farm, on King Charles’ Sandringham estate.
“The snow or rain hasn’t delayed the work on Marsh Farm, but it still needs a lot of attention to make it habitable,” a source told The Sun. “But one thing for sure is that it is a lot, lot smaller and less luxurious than Royal Lodge.”

Royal expert Hugo Vickers told OK! magazine that Kate is the glue holding the royal family together these days. “Catherine is hugely popular; she’s the star of the royal family. The other royals, like Princess Anne, do a wonderful job, but with Prince Harry and Andrew off the scene, we have a very small royal family now. We really need Catherine,” he said.
The royal family is going to hope for a less scandalous 2026, but Andrew’s Jeffrey Epstein problem isn’t going away — which only puts more pressure on the Princess of Wales to be the palace’s beacon of hope.
