European Aquatics Academy invites 2026 grant applications in key areas of sport technology and research
The European Aquatics Academy, which oversees education and development within the sport, is inviting 2026 grant applications in two key areas – firstly Products and Processes in Sport Technology; secondly, Aquatics Research.
The appeal for Products and Processes in Sports Technology seeks to support the development of innovative products, technologies, processes, solutions in sports technology with the potential to deliver significant impact to European Aquatics communities.
Top priority areas for development in this field are automated swimming race analysis and digital transformation within water polo.
Other areas for potential innovation are in fan engagement, training and competition, and digital transformation and technology.
Applications must be submitted via email to EA Innovation Hub at education@europeanaquatics.org.
They will be accepted on a rolling basis until the total €25,000 budget for ideas is fully allocated.
The second call is for projects that have an impact on European Aquatics communities and require Aquatics Research Grants.
Priority topics here are coaching and competitive practices, community-based interventions, technical innovation, wellbeing and organisational and policy development.
One-year grants up to a maximum of €10,000 are available.
Applications – which must also be emailed to the EA Innovation Hub at education@europeanaquatics.org – are accepted on a rolling basis until the total €20,000 budget is fully allocated.
Applications are open to national federations, provided they form a consortium that includes a research centre or laboratory and other partners such as government agencies, non-profits, private sector entities, or community organisations to enhance the impact and applicability of the project.
All consortium partners are required to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EA prior to submitting the application or upon its acceptation.
Under EA Strategic Plan and Action Plan 2024-2030 – Pilar 01 “Promoting all Aquatic Disciplines”, one of EAA´s main goals is to “promote research, development, and innovation within the field of aquatic sports.”
The EAA has the mission of fostering the education and development of the European Aquatics community, offering state-of-the-art knowledge and skills as integral parts of both initial training and lifelong learning through sound and novel methodologies.
The EA Innovation Hub is a collaborative think tank that brings together athletes, coaches, technical experts, and leaders across EA community to identify common challenges, explore innovative solutions, and generate evidence-based recommendations.
Full details of the application processes for grants in both of the above areas can be found here:
