Limassol ‘Career 2026’ sees 2,000 children, parents, guardians attend
Held for the first time this year in Limassol, “Career 2026”, the largest event of its kind in Cyprus, saw 2,000 children, parents and guardians attend. This level of attendance marked a great success, with numbers comparable to previous years’ events in Nicosia.
Career 2026 took place on January 24, 2026, at the Polemidia Lyceum in Limassol, and visitors had the chance to meet with representatives of over 40 professional associations and organisations, and to learn about more than 50 professions and their future prospects.
During the career fair, 13 thematic presentations and discussions took place, providing participants with practical information on studies, career guidance and the needs of the modern labour market.
Career 2026 was organised by the Counseling and Vocational Education Service (Y.S.E.A.) of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, in collaboration with the Pancyprian Confederation of Associations of Parents of Public Secondary Schools and with the support of the Bank of Cyprus.
Opening the event, the Director General of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, Marios Panayides, read a greeting from the Minister of Education, Dr Athena Michaelides, highlighting the occasion’s importance in providing documented information to the public about career paths, as well as elaborating on the role of the Ministry’s Career Guidance Centre.
Minister Michaelidou stressed the significance of the career fair, which offers authoritative insights on career paths, educational programmes and future career options, while also congratulating all contributors for their contribution to the success of the event.
In her own greeting, the Director of Corporate Social Responsibility at Bank of Cyprus, Elli Ioannidou, emphasised the importance of the institution in preparing young people to meet future professional challenges and the Bank’s long-standing commitment to supporting actions that empower young people and society.
She also expressed her warm thanks to all the organisations, speakers, professional associations and volunteers who took part in the event, as well as the thousands of families who visited the career fair, stressing that collective effort lay at the core of the institution’s success, for the benefit of the island’s youth.
