The incident was reported on January 18, at around 7.15am, by a 46-year-old woman, who told police the suspect entered through the balcony door while she was with the 40-year-old victim. After entering, he allegedly attacked and beat the man.
According to the report, the suspect then went to the kitchen, armed himself with a cleaver, and attacked the 40-year-old man, inflicting injuries to various parts of his body. He also allegedly assaulted the 46-year-old woman and threatened her life.
The woman managed to escape, fleeing to the building’s parking area, where she was found by police. The suspect had already fled by the time officers arrived at the scene.
The 40-year-old was initially taken to Larnaca general hospital, where he was found to have suffered amputation of his left thumb, a partial amputation of his right thumb and index finger, multiple lacerations to his hands and head, and a laceration to his back.
