Cyprus petroleum sales rise in December
The total sales of petroleum products in Cyprus rose by 4.9 per cent in December 2025 compared with the same month a year earlier, data released by the Statistical Service (Cystat) showed on Tuesday.
Total volumes reached 123,274 tonnes, supported mainly by strong increases in marine and aviation fuels.
The sharpest rise was recorded in marine gasoil provisions, which surged by 76.3 per cent year-on-year, while sales of aviation kerosene climbed by 23.6 per cent.
Asphalt sales also increased, rising by 51.4 per cent.
Further gains were recorded in heating gasoil, which rose by 10.9 per cent, motor gasoline, up 7.5 per cent, and road diesel, which increased by 6.1 per cent.
By contrast, sales of light fuel oil fell sharply, dropping by 82.8 per cent, while heavy fuel oil declined by 34.9 per cent. Liquefied petroleum gas sales edged down by 0.6 per cent.
Sales from filling stations rose by 5.7 per cent year-on-year to 64,311 tonnes.
On a month-on-month basis, total petroleum product sales increased by 2.8 per cent compared with November 2025.
Motor gasoline sales rose by 9.7 per cent, while road diesel increased by 2.1 per cent. At the same time, aviation kerosene provisions fell by 18.3 per cent and marine gasoil by 9.6 per cent.
Petroleum product stocks at the end of December declined by 7.6 per cent compared with the previous month.
Over the full year, total sales of petroleum products in 2025 increased by 4.8 per cent compared with 2024.
Growth was led by marine gasoil provisions, which surged by 90.3 per cent, while sales of aviation kerosene rose by 13.0 per cent.
Asphalt sales increased by 15.6 per cent, with further gains recorded in kerosene, up 6.1 per cent, heating gasoil, which rose by 5.8 per cent, liquefied petroleum gases, up 3.7 per cent, motor gasoline, which increased by 3.5 per cent, and road diesel, up 2.7 per cent.
By contrast, sales of light fuel oil fell by 52.9 per cent and heavy fuel oil by 12 per cent. Sales from filling stations rose by 3 per cent year-on-year.
