Jimmy Kimmel urges right to act after second deadly ICE shooting: How does this end?
Jimmy Kimmel has tearfully paid tribute to Alex Pretti, the man shot dead by ICE in Minneapolis on Saturday. Highlighting the stark difference between the Trump administration's characterisation of the killing and the many videos of the event circulating online, Kimmel urged viewers to watch the clips and draw their own conclusions.
"They fired 10 times on an ICU nurse," said Kimmel. "They're telling us, 'well, it was justified, you know?' Is that the law and order that you voted for, if you voted for this? Every day is a nightmare now. My wife and I have family in Minneapolis. They're afraid to take their kids to school. They're afraid to go to work. And I can only imagine how people who aren't white feel about this."
Becoming slightly choked up when speaking of Pretti, Kimmel also called on right-leaning people to take a stand, stating that he considers them crucial to stopping this from continuing to happen.
"I know it takes a lot of courage to go against your tribe or whatever it is, but that's what we need. We need some decent people on the right to show some courage and some common sense," said Kimmel.
"We're less than a month into the new year. So far, this administration has managed to start a war in Minnesota, invade Venezuela, threaten to invade Greenland, pull us out of the World Health Organization, attack our own Federal Reserve, abandon vaccine science, bring back measles, send health care premiums through the roof, and kill two US citizens in cold blood. And he still thinks he got cheated out of a Nobel Peace Prize. I mean, if that delusion doesn't trigger the 25th Amendment, what possibly will?"
