Larnaca hosts first open day for aspiring aviators in Cyprus
The Wizz Air Pilot Academy hosted its inaugural open day in Larnaca on January 25, in order to introduce prospective candidates to its professional flight training opportunities in Cyprus.
Attendees received a detailed briefing on the training and selection process, while having the chance to speak directly with programme experts to gain a clear understanding of the requirements for becoming a professional pilot, even without prior flight experience, according to an announcement from the airline.
“Cyprus possesses strong and ambitious talent and, with the launch of the Wizz Air Pilot Academy in the country, we are now bringing this opportunity closer to our young people,” stated Stelios Iacovou, the Wizz Air Country Manager for Flight Operations in Cyprus.
“We offer a clear and guided path to a career in aviation, from the first application to the cockpit, through high-quality training and a clearly defined employment prospect at Wizz Air,” Iakovou added.
Candidates can complete their training in approximately two years through the academy, obtaining a commercial pilot licence and progressing to the rank of first officer on the airline’s aircraft, the company noted.
“The programme combines world-class training with a supportive financial model, allowing students to begin with a low initial payment and repay the remaining costs through salary deductions once they start flying for the carrier,” the company said in a statement.
This specific repayment structure is designed to lower the barrier of entry for individuals who may not have the full tuition fees available upfront.
Prospective students were encouraged to explore the high-quality training standards that lead directly to a guaranteed career path within the airline’s growing network.
For the next open day, which is scheduled to take place on February 18, 2026, at 17:00, interested parties are required to register in advance through the provided online link, the organisers confirmed.
Further information regarding the academy and the application procedures is currently available on the official company website, the airline concluded.
