Melissa Gilbert Releases New Statement After Husband Timothy Busfield Is Released Amid Child Sex Abuse Charges

Melissa Gilbert is speaking out.

The 61-year-old actress released a new statement on her brand Modern Prairie’s official Instagram account, thanking those who have supported her and husband Timothy Busfield amid the child sex abuse charges against him.

Last week, he was released from custody pending trial.

“I’m sending you all my love and gratitude during this extraordinarily difficult time. Not only for Tim, me and our family, but in the collective heaviness so many of us seem to be carrying right now. Add an unexpected storm to the mix, and it can all feel like a bit too much,” she wrote.

“This season has reminded me, very clearly, how important it is to slow down, prioritize what truly matters, and allow ourselves moments of rest. Stepping back from the noise, the news, and even our daily responsibilities from time to time gives us space to recharge, reflect, and find our center again.”

Earlier this month, Melissa‘s husband Timothy was accused of sexual contact with a minor and child abuse, and was arrested on the charges after surrendering to police following an arrest warrant.

Days later, Melissa asked the judge to keep her husband safe in jail, and they both appeared in court last week for a hearing.
