Jalisco Charros repeat as Mexican Pacific League Champions
The Jalisco Charros repeated as the Mexican Pacific League (LMP) Champions, dominating the best-of-seven Championship Series to beat Culiacan Tomateros, in a repeat result from the 2024-25 season.
In front of 14,503 fans, the Charros won an emotional Game Four, 8-6, at the Charros Panamericano Stadium after Jalisco rallied against starter Aldo Montes and his first reliever, Francisco Haro, in the bottom of the second. Left fielder Julian Ornelas capped the at-bat with a three-run homer.
In the top of the third, Culiacan struck back with six runs against starter Luis Payan. Allen Cordoba hit a three-RBI double, and Orlando Martinez followed with a three-run homer.
The Charros scored the go-ahead runs in the bottom of the sixth. Reliever Sasagi Sanchez hit Ornelas with the bases loaded, and another run scored on a groundout. Anthony Gose, the sixth Tomatero to take the mound, allowed a pair of walks to give the Charros an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth.
Left-handed reliever Miguel Armando Aguilar pitched one inning for the win and right-hander Trevor Clifton earned the save.
Third baseman Mateo Gil led the Charros to the win in the opening match with a three-hit and five-RBI game.
Ornelas hit two homers in Game Two, while shortstop Connor Hollis hit a grand slam to help Jalisco shut out Culiacan in Game Three.

Ornelas, a 29-year-old left-handed slugger who posted a .400 batting average and batted in six runs in the series, earned MVP honours.
In 2018, Ornelas helped Mexico win the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup, starting eight games at first base. He played four games, starting three, at left field for Mexico at the WBSC Premier12 2024.
