Welcome, Jon Connolly!
Raith Rovers Football Club is delighted to welcome Jon Connolly to Stark’s Park as the club’s new Goalkeeping Coach, joining our coaching staff from Greenock Morton.
A highly respected figure within Scottish football, Jon brings with him a wealth of experience gained both as a professional goalkeeper and as a coach across a wide range of levels in the game.
Jon began his career in the academy system at Ipswich Town before returning to Scotland to start his senior playing career with Albion Rovers. His early promise earned him a move to Motherwell in 2000, where he went on to make appearances in the Scottish Premier League, including his top flight debut at Tannadice against Dundee United.
After spells with Dumbarton and East Stirlingshire, Jon enjoyed a long and varied career in the Junior game, representing clubs including Cumnock Juniors, Kilwinning Rangers, Kirkintilloch Rob Roy, Vale of Clyde, Fauldhouse United and others. His leadership qualities were recognised when he was appointed Player Manager of Fauldhouse United in 2017.
Since transitioning into coaching, Jon has built a strong reputation for his work with goalkeepers. He has held goalkeeping coach roles at Annan Athletic, Queen of the South, and most recently Greenock Morton, working closely with First Team squads and helping to develop goalkeepers at senior level.
Jon now joins Raith Rovers, reuniting with Manager Dougie Imrie.
Dougie commented, “I’m really pleased to add Jon to my coaching staff. He’s someone that I know well, respect and really enjoy working with. He’s been in today getting to know Josh, Aidan, the rest of the players and the staff and will join myself and Andy for the first time in the dugout tomorrow night.“
Everyone at Raith Rovers would like to extend a warm welcome to Jon and wish him every success in his new role at Stark’s Park.
