Pam Bondi Basically Tells Tim Walz to Hand Over Voter Rolls If He Wants Federal Agents to Stop Killing Americans
As if the Trump administration labeling a murdered VA nurse a “domestic terrorist” wasn’t vile enough, Attorney General Pam Bondi stepped in on Saturday with a list of fucked-up ultimatums for Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
Hours after federal agents shot and killed a second U.S. citizen in three weeks, Bondi jumped at the opportunity to say sure, she’ll pull ICE and CBP out of Minnesota…but only if Walz hands over the state’s voter rolls.
In her letter to Walz, Bondi blamed him for the deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole Good, both shot and killed by federal agents, claiming that “the results of your state’s policies and politicians’ anti-law enforcement rhetoric are a national tragedy.” Some of the “rhetoric” she cited? Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, saying, “ICE: Get the fuck out of Minneapolis,” and Walz himself referring to ICE as “Trump’s modern-day Gestapo,” both made after Good was murdered by an ICE agent, who shot her three times.
Bondi then spelled out three conditions Walz must meet if he wants her to remove ICE—the most eyebrow-raising being access to Minnesota’s voter rolls in a baffling claim to “better guarantee free and fair elections.” She also demanded Walz hand over information about the state’s welfare programs, including Medicaid and SNAP recipients, and get rid of the state’s sanctuary policies.
The Department of Justice recently demanded that Minnesota hand over data on the state’s same-day voter registration and vouching system. On January 16, the state said no.
On Fox News on Saturday, Bondi bizarrely suggested protests were coordinated because the “signs they have are all matching” (???), further blamed state officials for the federal killings, outrageously declared that “our country was founded on religion,” and threatened that Walz had “better support President Trump.”
By suggesting the protests are organized, it appears Bondi might be laying the groundwork for Trump to ultimately invoke the Insurrection Act and send the military to Minnesota, which he already threatened to do a week ago.
On Sunday morning, Walz tweeted: “Minnesota believes in law and order. We believe in peace. And we believe that Trump needs to pull his 3,000 untrained agents out of Minnesota before they kill another American in the street.”
