WATCH: New York Gov. Kathy Hochul Calls for Noem to Be Fired, Vows to Hold Trump Admin Officials ‘Accountable’ Once They Leave Office
New York Governor Kathy Hochul is calling for the resignation, firing, or impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Border Patrol chief Greg Bovino — and has vowed legal action against Trump admin officials when they leave office.
Hochul made the demand while speaking to reporters about Saturday’s shooting in Minneapolis from Albany on Sunday.
“Kristi Noem has forfeited her right to lead, and I’m calling on her to resign or [President] Donald Trump to do the right thing and fire her,” Hochul said.
She added, “If not, she must be removed or impeached.”
“Gregory Bovino, who has helped lead, defend, and escalate these operations, should also be fired,” Hochul added.
Hochul implied that her state may bring legal action against Noem, Bovino, or even President Donald Trump.
“It’s a shame I have to say this in America, but no one is above the law,” Hochul said. “Not an ICE agent, not a federal officer, not the president of the United States.”
The governor said that once the Trump administration is out of office, “states including New York will hold them accountable.”
“Make no mistake, when these people who have abused the power entrusted to them by their offices are finally out of power, states, including New York, will hold them accountable,” she asserted.
“I will have more to report on further actions the state of New York will be taking in the coming days,” Hochul concluded.
