Serie A | Atalanta 4-0 Parma: Raspadori scores on full debut victory
Giacomo Raspadori scored on his full Atalanta debut, along with Gianluca Scamacca, Marten de Roon and Nikola Krstovic to sweep Parma aside.
The mood in Bergamo was shaken by recent results, held by Pisa in Serie A and losing to Athletic Club in the Champions League, ruining their excellent run of form. New signing Raspadori was thrown into the starting XI for his full debut, with Ademola Lookman on the bench after AFCON, leaving only Raoul Bellanova injured. Parma missed Zion Suzuki, Matija Frigan and Abdoulaye Ndiaye.
See how it all unfolded on the Liveblog.
It was an aggressive start from the visitors, as Adrian Benedyczak’s backwards flicked header tested Marco Carnesecchi on an Adrian Bernabé free kick.
Raspadori laid it off for Nicola Zalewski, who was tripped by Sasha Britschgi for a penalty, which Gianluca Scamacca drilled low into the near bottom corner to put Atalanta in front.
The second was created entirely by Charles De Ketelaere, who got down the right, left two defenders standing with a cheeky twirl, and rolled it back for Marten de Roon to sweep first-time into the top corner.
It was so nearly 3-0 moments later on another De Ketelaere assist, but this time Ederson drilled inches wide of the near post.
De Ketelaere rolled across for a Scamacca tap-in, denied by the desperate Mariano Troilo block.
Troilo threatened at the other end with his header on a corner, which De Ketelaere cleared almost off the line in the second half.
Edoardo Corvi palmed a powerful Raspadori strike over the bar, while Giorgio Scalvini threw his body in the way of a Mateo Pellegrino header.
Moments later, Carnesecchi rushed off his line and stuck out a trailing leg to deny Pellegrino one-on-one.
It was pivotal, as Atalanta consolidated their advantage when Nikola Krstovic anticipated Troilo to break away down the right and roll across for Raspadori to tap in at the back post on his full debut.
It wasn’t over, as in stoppages Corvi parried the Ahanor volley on a Pasalic knockdown from the corner, but could do nothing on Krstovic’s follow-up.
