Bruins Call Comeback Win Over Canadiens ‘Huge’
The Boston Bruins picked up a massive 4-3 comeback win over the Montreal Canadiens at home on Saturday.
Boston trailed 1-0, 2-1, and 3-2 at different points in the game, including being down 3-2 after the second period.
Yet, in the third period, the Bruins played well as Fraser Minten tied with just over six minutes left, and Morgan Geekie gave Boston the lead just 11 seconds later.
“Huge,” Minten said on Saturday, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “Especially a comeback win in the third, I don’t think we’ve been able to do that yet this year.
“Good feeling. Huge points for our team, and to do it on a big stage Saturday night like that, it’s awesome.”
The Bruins are chasing the Canadiens in the standings, so getting the full two points and winning in regulation was big for Boston.
“It’s an excellent character win,” goalie Jeremy Swayman said. “The way we came back and had life in the third when it mattered is really important for our group.
“We knew that it was an important win. We weren’t going to let these 20 minutes slip. Obviously, we gave it our all and it shifted in our favor.”
With the win, Boston improved to 30-20-2 and is holding onto the second wild card spot. The Bruins will return to the ice on Monday on the road against the New York Rangers.
