Israel media flag decisive week as U.S. reviews potential strike on Iran
As senior U.S. officials visit Tel Aviv, Israeli media say the coming week could prove decisive for Washington’s potential military decision on Iran.
Israeli Channel 13 has described the coming week as “decisive” amid growing speculation over whether the United States may take military action against Iran.
U.S. Central Command chief Gen. Brad Cooper arrived in Israel on Saturday, January 24, holding talks in Tel Aviv with Israeli army chief Eyal Zamir, officials said.
Senior Israeli military figures, including the heads of military intelligence and operations, also attended the meeting at Israel’s defense ministry headquarters.
According to Channel 13, Cooper told Israeli officials that President Donald Trump has not yet made a final decision on launching a strike against Iran.
He confirmed, however, that the United States will complete preparations and operational planning for a possible military action by the end of this week.
Tensions between Washington and Tehran have risen sharply in recent months over Iran’s missile program and regional influence, prompting intensified security coordination with Israel.
Previous U.S. administrations have used military deployments and joint planning with allies as leverage, while keeping diplomatic and strategic options formally open.
Channel 13 reported that Israeli officials urged Washington to ensure any initial strike targets Iran’s military infrastructure, including ground-to-ground missile systems, alongside key state institutions.
