‘Urban expansion destroyed several megalithic sites’
Jharkhand's rich megalithic heritage, reflecting prehistoric life and burial customs, is being explored by the ASI. Recent excavations at Obra in Chatra district unearthed iron ornaments and smelting evidence, potentially linked to the ancient Asura people. Protecting these sites from human activity and lack of awareness remains a significant challenge.
