Tottenham Hotspur half-time player ratings vs Burnley – 5/10 for defender who switches off

The half-time whistle has blown in the Premier League match between Burnley and Tottenham Hotspur, and it’s time for our half time player ratings.

Tottenham head into the interval level at 1-1 after conceding late at Turf Moor, with Axel Tuanzebe’s goal cancelling out Micky van de Ven’s opener just before the break.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Guglielmo Vicario – The Italian had been largely untroubled for much of the opening forty-five minutes, but he was beaten late on as Axel Tuanzebe equalised for Burnley, giving him little chance from close range. 5.5.

Pedro Porro – Just like Djed Spence, Porro is also being deployed as a wing-back, and as such, he has been more involved in the attack. Defensively, though, he has been easy to get past, with Anthony having a few good moments against him. He came close after shooting at goal from a free kick won by Simons on the edge of the box. 5.

Cristian Romero – While his other centre-back counterparts often look to venture forward, the Argentine has been tasked as the deepest of the back three, often the one starting attacks with his passing, an assignment he has stuck to brilliantly. 6.

Kevin Danso – The Austrian keeps his spot in the team today and has looked solid at the back. He has kept things simple with his passing and is also not scared to push up when Tottenham are looking to press. 6.

Micky van de Ven – The Dutchman has the licence to drift away from the centre-back position as he often pops into midfield to offer Spence some support on the left. The centre-back did grab yet another goal this season as he fired from inside the box following a set piece. 7.

Djed Spence – The full-back is being used in a more advanced position, given his role as a winger. He had a really good chance early on when Kyle Walker had a lapse in concentration, but his cross across goal evaded everyone. He is holding the width well and has seen plenty of the ball. 7.

Conor Gallagher –In the opening forty-five minutes, Gallagher has stuck to his defensive duties well, often covering for Porro when he goes on his overlapping runs. He has also made a couple of key interceptions. He then came close to his first goal in a Spurs shirt, but his shot was saved. 7.

Yves Bissouma – The Malian international has stuck to his task very well, winning the ball and finding Simons whenever he can to get Spurs on the attack quickly. 6.

Wilson Odobert – Spurs attacks have mostly come from the left, with Spence and Simons limiting Odobert’s feel of the ball. When he has seen it, he has looked to play crosses into the box. He came close to opening the scoring when he attempted to bend one in from outside the box, while from the resulting corner, he went close again, but Dubravka was equal to the test. 8.

Dominic Solanke – The forward has barely had a touch of the ball as chances have been hard to come by, although when crosses have come into the box, his positioning has been off. 6.

Xavi Simons – The Dutchman does not have a definite position as he has the licence to roam and get on the ball as much as possible, which he has done. He linked up well with Spence out on the left, and his direct running has seen him win a few free kicks. 6.5.
